Lush R&B Hair Moisturiser Review

R&B Hair Moisturiser (100g:)

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

This product will make your hair get greasy faster than it would do otherwise. I have really fine hair and also have a fringe, meaning this effect on me was really noticeable! I normally like to wash my hair daily as it is (or at least my fringe,) but when using this product my hair almost NEEDED to be washed daily.

A lot of people really hate the smell of R&B. To me it actually smells nice, but really, a LOT of people dislike its scent, so it’s definitely a product you should smell in store before purchasing.

The scent is really strong and clings to your hair. That means that if you happen to hate the scent of this product, even using the tiniest amount in your hair will cause you to smell of the stuff all day!

Although I personally do like the scent of R&B, just the fact that it is such a strong scent can make the product a little tedious to use. It’s like using the same perfume every single day for a REALLY long time! I mean, I’m not sure how noticeable the scent is to other people when it’s in my hair, but I personally can smell it very strongly throughout the day.

Using R&B correctly could be a struggle for some people. Everyone’s hair is different, so the amount you need to use in your hair wont be the same amount that somebody else needs in their hair. I personally used a really small amount at first, and kept adding more until I felt like there was enough product in my hair for it to have its full effect. After a while I learnt around how much product my hair needed. I also found it best to apply the hair moisturiser after washing and towel drying my hair. I’d begin at the tips, and work my way up to my roots, so that the least product would be on my roots and the most on my ends. I’d then brush my hair through, followed by using a hairdryer to dry my hair whilst running a brush through it. I’d brush one more time and voila! Learning how to use R&B to achieve the best effect for your hair might take some time!

Pros:

I personally love the scent of R&B, and really like the fact that the scent is strong and that it lingers in the hair (most of the time!) To me the scent is a very natural, sweet, buttery, herby floral scent. I REALLY like how it smells in fact, and so does my partner! I’m genuinely surprised by the amount of people that hate the way it smells.

Okay, so as I said before, my hair is SUPER fine. It’s also pretty long. R&B was a life saver for me when it comes to tangled hair. I could never imagine how easy it could be to comb my hair after towel drying it until I started using this product. It doesn’t matter whether your hair is dry, damp or completely wet, R&B makes it SO easy to comb your hair. Brushing my hair is a job that literally went from taking what seemed like 15 minutes to 15 seconds after using this product.

My hair has never felt so healthy and moisturised in my LIFE until using R&B.

R&B would also leave my hair feeling SUPER silky, smooth, soft and looking really shiny. It also helped my hair to look more bright and vibrant – it really helped my natural highlights to stand out! I always loved how my hair looked when I had used R&B.

This product would also help a lot with fighting static – I don’t remember hair static being a problem much at all during the time I used R&B, and it’s normally a pretty big problem for me and my fine hair!

My individual strands would look a lot thicker once I had applied this stuff, which is something I really enjoyed!

I’d find that my hair was stronger, healthier and would break a lot less when I had used R&B. The frequency of finding split ends reduced a LOT.

My 100g pot lasted me quite a long time. I asked my partner to run to Oxford Street after work to grab me a pot of the stuff on the 6th January 2017. I’m not 100% sure when I used it all up but I know it was very recently, so I’m going to go ahead and say that 100g pot lasted me around a year. Not bad!

The feel of the actual product by itself is really lovely. It feels super buttery and soothing.

R&B is a pale creamy yellow colour by itself – it even LOOKS buttery!

Despite what a lot of other people say, this product never made my hair feel greasy in a bad way. It would leave my hair feeling moisturised and healthy, and my hair would only begin to feel and look greasy if I didn’t wash it for over 24 hours. Even then, the greasiness was only really noticeable in my fringe so sometimes I’d just wash my fringe quickly in the morning – and tie my hair up if I was a bit paranoid about the rest of my hair looking greasy.

I didn’t have a conditioner to use in my hair for the longest time, so I relied on using R&B after washing my hair to keep it moisturised. It worked SO well, and a little really did go a long way. When I used it after having conditioned my hair, I’d need such a teeny bit to get the best effect from the product.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I absolutely loved this product and am really upset that it’s all gone now! I could hardly flaw it at all. In fact, I don’t really think I can really find a genuine flaw in the product personally.

I 100% recommend that everyone try a sample of this, or purchase a small pot of it. It isn’t recommended for my hair type but dayum, it worked wonders! I didn’t even think my hair was dry until I started using R&B and realised how healthy my hair could be!

Overall, I rate R&B a solid 5/5* rating.

Lush Tooth Fairy Tooth Powder Review

Tooth Fairy Tooth Powder:

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

I don’t like the taste of this tooth powder. To me, it doesn’t taste of strawberry at all, whilst being labelled a “Strawberry Tooth Powder.” To me it tastes like sweetener, mixed with some sort of powdery tasting sweet, mixed with the taste of these teddy bear shaped multivitamins I used to have when I was a kid… This tooth powder tastes REALLY bad to me, and only has a slight, general berry flavour to it. That being said, my partner really likes the taste of this tooth powder! If you are a bit picky with flavours of toothpaste, I’d avoid this one!

This is quite a feminine tooth powder. It is called “Tooth Fairy,” is pink and sparkly, has pink packaging and is strawberry flavoured – all somewhat feminine features! This means some men might feel uncomfortable using this tooth powder, which I think sucks!

My teeth and mouth in general doesn’t always “feel” perfectly clean. I don’t know if it is because of the flavour of the tooth powder or what it is.

Pros:

I think the concept for this tooth powder is really cute, and may motivate little girls to brush their teeth! Children seem more tolerant of sweet tastes, so perhaps they would even enjoy the taste of this tooth powder.

This tooth powder doesn’t contain fluoride, which is something that I personally like. Some people prefer to have fluoride in their toothpaste which is completely understandable, as it is recommended by health professionals. I personally prefer a less harsh approach to keeping myself healthy, but each to their own!

This tooth powder really works. The difference in the appearance of my teeth before and after brushing with this tooth powder is definitely noticeable. Tooth Fairy makes my teeth look much more white, bright and clean. They also feel super clean to the touch after brushing.

I really like this format of toothpaste. I think it is easier to use up every last bit of product when in this format, which is something I always found difficult to do with conventional toothpaste. I also found that with the toothy tabs, sometimes I’d need to use more than one tab to properly cleanse my mouth however with tooth powders, I have extremely rarely needed to dab my brush into the powder a second time whilst brushing. I also find that tooth powder foams up much easier than both conventional toothpaste and the toothy tabs. Tooth powders last a good amount of time too! You would think that this format of toothpaste would be messy, but honestly, I’ve dropped more toothy tabs into my sink than I have spilled tooth powder.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I hated the taste of this tooth powder but everything else about it was on point. I love the whole concept of this tooth powder, and love tooth powders as a form of toothpaste in general! My favourite tasting of the three tooth powders is Ultrablast without a doubt!

I’m going to give Tooth Fairy a 4/5* rating. It worked amazingly, I just wish it tasted a little better! I do HIGHLY recommend anyone curious about Lush’s tooth powders to try Ultrablast though – absolute game changer for me!

Lush Celestial Moisturiser Review

Celestial Moisturiser:

Rating: 3/5*

Cons:

This moisturiser runs out real fast. I found I needed to use quite a bit to spread it around properly because it is quite thick!

This moisturiser ran out pretty quickly.

This moisturiser looks very plain – it’s just white! This isn’t much of a con but for a Lush product I know many people would definitely be expecting a more exciting looking product!

I didn’t honestly notice any incredibly effects from this moisturiser.

This moisturiser feels a little heavy on the skin.

I have noticed quite a few spots and blocked pores on my face recently… I don’t know if this moisturiser contributed to this fact or not, but I had been using this moisturiser at around the same time as noticing this!

Celestial doesn’t have too much of a scent to it – the scent is extremely weak, making the product feel even more plain.

Pros:

The scent is weak, but I actually personally like it. It has a faint sweet, light and creamy smell to it. I think it’s nice!

Sometimes you don’t want to use some exciting, super fancy moisturiser. Sometimes you just want to use something that is, well, basic. This is that moisturiser. It is simple with only 12 ingredients (which is not many compared to most moisturisers!,) it is a plain colour, has a fairly plain scent and well, to me it is just a pretty standard moisturiser! Sometimes less is more, right?

This moisturiser definitely works. Again, it isn’t a miracle worker, but it does work very well as a moisturiser itself.

If you use a serum underneath this moisturiser, you can get away with using a very small amount of this moisturiser by rubbing it between your finger tips, dabbing it around your face fairly evenly, and then smoothing into the skin. Like, you can get away with using a REALLY small amount so long as you are using a serum underneath it!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this was a really nice moisturiser, but it definitely wasn’t absolutely amazing. It was lovely and light (not in texture but in its simplicity.) This would be a perfect moisturiser for minimalists!

I’m going to rate this moisturiser an all round 3/5* to be honest. I wish I could have given it a higher rating, honestly I was quite disappointed by it! It is lovely but it just doesn’t do anything special for my skin, and I really have been noticing more acne recently which scares me off a bit!

Lush Skin Drink Moisturiser Review

Skin Drink Moisturiser:

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

The smell is really quite strong. I could smell the product on my face hours after having applied it – and it didn’t smell good. Someone even referred to this product as smelling like mushrooms… After using it, I sort of get what they meant. Not raw mushrooms but like fried mushrooms. It is just a general savoury foody scent and is really not something I appreciated my face smelling like. If this sounds nasty to you, maybe it’s best you stay away!

After a short amount of time, when I had only a little amount of product left in my pot, that little amount of product became really quite thick and dark in colour. I still sort of managed to use it, but it makes me think that maybe this product’s ingredients do not combine too well, and that some ingredients sink to the bottom or something.

This moisturiser didn’t last very long for me. I’m not sure why but it just seemed to go really quite quickly.

This moisturiser has a slight bit of texture to it I think. When I’d apply it to my face, my face would feel slightly less even in texture – almost like any tiny bump felt exaggerated after applying Skin Drink.

Pros:

This moisturiser moisturised my skin so, so, SO well! My face just always felt so plump and healthy and hydrated after using it. It was really a nice feeling.

Any fine lines/wrinkles on my face (especially my forehead) would basically vanish after using Skin Drink. Seriously, I have some lines on my forehead and when I looked in the mirror after applying this, the wrinkles had practically vanished (unless of course I raised my eyebrows at all.) Definitely recommend!

Just the smallest amount would really work. I could feel my skin was truly hydrated after using Skin Drink, and that feeling would last all day – without my skin becoming any more oily than it usually would.

The colour of this moisturiser is skin toned. Now, I don’t know that this makes a noticeable difference whatsoever, but I really liked that fact. It felt like I was applying an additional skin-tone-evening layer on my skin, however slight that layer was. If you wouldn’t say no to that then perhaps Skin Drink is worth a go!

A vegan Lush product that is handmade, cruelty free, animal friendly, practically all natural… worth a shot!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this moisturiser could do with a few improvements. It smells nasty and I’m really not keen on the texture or formula of it at all. It does work very well however, and really is a decent moisturiser.

Overall, I rate this moisturiser a 4/5* but ONLY JUST. The SMELL is absolutely vile, it just so happens that this moisturiser is the one that has worked for me best thus far and at least from the regular line, I believe I only have a couple more to try. Honestly, I really hope one of those two do surpass this one because I don’t know that I could handle that smell day in and day out… Anyway, I hope you enjoyed my review!

Out of the vegan facial moisturisers available on the Lush UK site on 03/03/17, this is my favourite moisturiser!
