Lush Grease Lightning Spot Treatment Review

Hey guys!

Yet another Lush review! This is a product I have actually had for an insanely long amount of time – just over 2 years now! I finally used it up though – I hope you enjoy my review 🙂

Grease Lightning Spot Treatment:

02896

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

If you want to get this product and you’re expecting miracles, just don’t. The effects of Grease Lightning are pretty mild the majority of the time.

The texture of Grease Lightning can turn a bit funny! Mine developed gross hard lumps in it by the end, although, I did use it for a really long time.

Toward the end of the product, the bottle that it comes in makes it really difficult to use up the last bit of product. I had to add a little bit of water to the bottle, shake it up and then empty it into a little black sample pot. I kept repeating the process until all of the spot treatment was in the little black container. Not a huge deal, but definitely a bit of a pain.

This product shows on the skin when it dries. It makes the skin look a little shiny and sometimes a tiny bit crispy – similar to how dried PVA glue would look on the skin once dried! I never found this to be a huge problem, as it would only notice if I had the product on by itself (and in those times, I’d not leave the house anyways!)

Pros:

This spot treatment DOES work – even if the effects are mild. It especially worked extremely well when I first began using it. Here’s an example. I pierced my septum around 6 months after purchasing Grease Lightning. I pierced it myself, and the jewellery I decided to use was too small for the piercing, which caused irritation. My skin developed some sore bumps where the skin was pierced. In a panic, I decided to try heavily applying some Grease Lightning to the bumps and to leave it on overnight. Hey presto, in the morning the bumps were completely gone! I also clearly remember applying Grease Lightning to my acne near when I first began using it, and the next day all of the little bumps on my skin were completely gone, my pores looked clearer and any larger spots had become smaller and had begun to heal. If you need a spot treatment, this one is certainly worth a try!

Grease Lightning contains a lot of Aloe Vera gel, so I would use this on me and my partner whenever I’d notice a bug bite on us, and it would really help! I also would use it on any rashes, scratches etc, and it always seemed to just be a generally healing product to use.

This product lasts a REALLY long time!!! It is 100% worth the money. Again, it lasted me just over TWO YEARS, and was fine all the way up until near the end of the product.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this product was pretty good, but no miracle worker. I wouldn’t say it is a cure for acne or anything like that, but used alongside other products it can definitely HELP to cure acne.

I would definitely recommend Grease Lightning. It is an extremely cost effective product as it lasts for such a long amount of time, and can help so many different skin problems.

Overall, I’m going to rate Grease Lightning a 4/5* rating. It did do its job and helped to calm down my acne, and I also found it to be useful for many other things, such as bug bites and piercings! It wasn’t perfect though, I mean, my skin still isn’t great!

New Lush Permanent Line Items?

Okay guys, so I don’t know much about anything to do with new products that are coming to Lush. What I do know is that Lush have been saying that they will be releasing some new products soon, hence why they’ve been discontinuing so many, and I do know that Lush are announcing on Thursday for North America what some of those products will be.

Being in the UK means that the new products released will be different to the new products that we will get in the UK – the US doesn’t have a lot of products that the UK does, so a lot of their “new” products will be ones already available in the UK.

I became curious, so I did a quick search on the UK site. I typed ‘coming soon’. Lo and behold, several new products appeared! I don’t know if these are purely going to be for the Kitchen or what, but their ‘coming soon’ labels are in black – which usually mean that they are products that will be available in store (even if just in the Oxford Street store.)

Here they are!:

newproducts1newproducts2newproducts3newproducts4newproducts5

I’m so excited! Guysss! I would click on each and send pictures with each product’s description, but if you guys are curious then I’m sure you can manage doing so yourself! Just search for the product’s name and it will come up 🙂 I’m going to go have a look right now! So the products are:

  1. Rocket Science – Vegan
  2. Birth Of Venus Face Mask – Vegan
  3. Cheer Up Buttercup Bath Bomb – Vegan
  4. Marmalade Jelly Bomb – Vegan
  5. Just To Clarify Face Mask – Vegan
  6. The Big Sleep Jelly Bomb – Vegan
  7. Rump Bottom Rub – Vegan
  8. Marilyn Hot Oil Treatment – Vegan
  9. Damaged Hot Oil Treatment – Vegan
  10. Hair Doctor Hot Oil Treatment – Not Vegan
  11. Bunny Moon Jelly Mask – Not Vegan
  12. Green Coconut Jelly Bomb – Vegan
  13. 1000 Millihelens Jelly Mask – Vegan
  14. Fomo Jelly Mask – Vegan
  15. Dark Arts Jelly Bomb – Vegan
  16. New Hot Oil Treatment – Vegan

Potentially 16 new products! As I said, I don’t know for sure whether these will be permanent line or anything, but it is exciting none the less!

Lush Yog Log Roulade Review

Good morning my lovelies and welcome to this blog post!

Today’s review is of a product that isn’t THAT appropriate for this season. It was a Christmas exclusive product last year, but I’ve only just finished up my piece and really want to review it while it is still fresh in my mind! Sorry for the randomness!

Remember, I always review Lush products AFTER having used up the entire product, so that I have a well informed opinion before I write a review!

I hope you enjoy 🙂

Yog Log Roulade:

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This stuff runs out so fast, and is really expensive. I bought a piece of Yog Log Roulade that was big enough to cut into 8 slices, and it cost me around £13 – in the half price Boxing Day sale! So, 8 pretty thin slices of this stuff (size of slice shown in photo) would have normally cost me £26. Each slice lasted around 2 or 3 days as a hand soap in me and my partner’s bathroom sink. I just personally found this product to be a luxury, and not the sort of thing anyone would want to buy to use on a regular basis!

Yog Log Roulade was an exclusive product for the Christmas season in 2016, and is no longer available to buy. It may not even become available for the Christmas season this year, so it has very limited availability! If you do happen to get your hands on some of this product, and happen to fall in love with it, you’re going to have a tough time stocking up on the stuff!

I didnt like the colour of Yog Log Roulade. ‘Yog Nog’, the soap version of this roulade, had a creamy, orangey, mustard yellow colour to it, whereas Yog Log had a more biscuity, beige brown colour to it. It didn’t look that appealing to me personally!

I didn’t like the scent of Yog Log as much as that of Yog Nog either. It had a sort of creamy, biscuity scent, mixed in with the scent of play dough. If you want to purchase Yog Log because you love the scent of Yog Nog then don’t – they do not smell the same!

This is a pretty messy soap product, because of how soft and buttery it is. Pieces of the product would cling to sides of my sink as I’d wash my hands, which was pretty annoying.

The texture of Yog Log might not be something that everyone likes. It has a slightly grainy, creamy, buttery texture. I quite enjoyed the texture but I do know some people who hate anything that they consider to feel “slimy”, which they may find this product to be!

This is, supposedly, an incredibly moisturising soap. I however did not find this to be the case. I didn’t find this soap to be incredibly drying, but I definitely didn’t find it to be moisturising.

Pros:

The scent of Yog Log Roulade is sweet, biscuity and creamy. It is quite a nice scent!

The whole experience of using Yog Log feels like a luxurious treat, which is always nice! It has a sweet and creamy scent, a buttery texture – it is a very decadent product, and with a price to match! This is a really nice soap to use as a treat 🙂

I think the overall appearance of the product and how it is put together is really fun. It reminds me of a delicious Swiss Roll cake! Lovely!

I like the colour of wax that is used on the outside of Yog Log. It is a nice, bright, sunny yellow colour!

This is certainly a unique soap. I have never used a soap like this in my life, and it was definitely a fun novelty!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I’m not really sure what I think of this product. While using it I was sure that it was a product I really enjoyed, but looking back, I’m not sure if it was really quite as good as I thought it was!

I think bottom line, this is a luxury product. It makes a terrible everyday sort of soap, because it just doesn’t last long as all and is a bit messy – and is also REALLY expensive! If used as a luxury product though – like how I used my Yog Log up in just a few weeks, then this soap provides a really lovely experience for the user.

Overall, I’m going to rate this product a 4/5* rating. It did its job well, and was a lovely and luxurious product to use, but it just wasn’t quite enough to get a 5 star rating from me!

Lush Refresher Shower Jelly Review

Refresher Shower Jelly (100g):

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

Toward the end of its days, this shower jelly was extremely difficult to lather up. This was only really for the final time or two that I used the jelly, but I was really surprised with how little lather was coming from the jelly at this point.

Shower jellies are SUPER difficult to use up before their use by date – or at least Refresher was! I don’t fully remember when I received my Refresher jelly – I believe it was some time during the first week or two of January 2016. Its use by date was 15/02/17. I only managed to use this guy up yesterday – 17/05/17! It’s difficult to use up because you generally need such a small amount of product to wash your entire body with. If you aren’t cool with using products past their use-by date, maybe this jelly isn’t for you!

Refresher is a straight up lemon scented product. If you aren’t into citrus scents then you’re not going to like the smell of Refresher.

Pros:

I think Refresher Shower Jelly smells absolutely divine. It smells just like lemon sherbet sweets! It really does smell incredible!

This shower jelly lasts a really long time. You definitely get value for money when it comes to this product!

The appearance of Refresher is gorgeous! It is a bright, deep yellow colour, and is full of yellow lustre!

I found this Shower Jelly to be really moisturising! I think it is definitely more moisturising than some of Lush’s other body wash products. If you have dry skin or just love a moisturising body wash, give Refresher a try!

Everything about this shower jelly is super positive and uplifting. I personally received Refresher from my partner, as part of a gift set called ‘Happiness’. The occasion was very cheerful and uplifting in itself, and using a bright yellow,  lustre filled, lemon scented jelly type product, straight out of the fridge, called ‘Refresher’, first thing in the morning just really added to the entire feel of the product. It is just… Such a happy product! It’s like Lush injected some positive vibes into this jelly.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I really enjoyed this product – a lot! Many people find shower jellies difficult to use, but I never had this problem at all. I just would take the jelly out of its pot, rub it onto a wet shower pouf and voila. Easy!

I think Refresher is such a happy jelly! It would be quite a difficult product to not love in my opinion.

Overall, I’m going to rate Refresher a 5/5* rating, but only just! I’m actually not the BIGGEST fan of lemon scents – I don’t dislike them at all, but I can find them to be a bit “much” sometimes. I couldn’t really give Refresher any lower than 5 stars though – it really is an amazing product, and is strangely underrated!

Lush Sugar Scrub Shower Scrub Review

Sugar Scrub Shower Scrub:

Rating: 3/5*

Cons:

This sugar scrub was extremely abrasive to use! Sometimes after scrubbing my legs and arms, I would find little red streaks on my skin where I had used the scrub. If you have sensitive skin, DEFINITELY do not try this scrub!

After using this sugar scrub a few times, it had become rather damp and started to disintegrate. Any part of the scrub that this had happened to became a gel-like consistency, rather than a scrub – the gel was hardly scrubby at all! I think this is because of the scrub being made of sugar, so the scrub easily dissolves into water and combines to form a gel. If you’d prefer a hardier, more resilient scrub, I’d give on of Lush’s salt scrubs a try!

Sugar Scrub has a very herbal scent to it – it smells like fennel, lavender, ginger and slightly zesty. It predominantly smells like fennel and lavender though. I know a lot of people who really are not keen on those sorts of scents!

I didn’t really find that this scrub did THAT much for my skin. It never left my skin extremely soft, smooth or moisturised or anything like that. It wasn’t a mind-blowing product whatsoever.

I found Sugar Scrub to be a little messy, because of the fact that it would dissolve and form that gel-like substance between baths. I kept mine in the lid of a square Lush tin on the side of my bath tub. If you don’t like messy products, I’d give Sugar Scrub a miss!

Pros:

This is a really natural scrub. It’s mostly just sugar and oils. All the ingredients in this product are beneficial to the user to some way or another. It’s nice to know that you’re using such a natural product to exfoliate with 🙂

I really like the colour of Sugar Scrub! It is green, and makes me feel more like I’m using a very natural product that is good for my skin.

Sugar Scrub does work – toward the end of the product, I only had enough scrub left to exfoliate one of my legs. The scrubbed one was definitely felt much more smooth and silky than the unscrubbed one.

The scent of Sugar Scrub is very fresh.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I thought this scrub was just fine. It was fresh smelling and appearing product, and did its job (most of the time.) Sometimes the scrub would become too dissolved to work effectively as a scrub, and sometimes it would have the opposite problem, and feel far too harsh on my skin.

Although I enjoyed the freshness of Sugar Scrub’s scent, I’m not the biggest fan of the smell of fennel to be honest.

I don’t really have much more to say about it. It was a little boring to be honest, and wasn’t the best scrub I have used from Lush thus far. I’m going to rate this scrub a 3/5* rating – it did work for the most part, it just could really use some improvements here and there!

Lush Snow Fairy Fun Review

This was a 2016 Christmas exclusive item! I hope you enjoy this review!

Snow Fairy Fun (200g):

Rating: 3/5*

Cons:

This was a Christmas Exclusive item from Lush for 2016. This means that it isn’t just readily available, and may not even return for Christmas at Lush this year. If you happen to get your hands on one of these Fun bars, and happen to LOVE it, you’re going to have a difficult time restocking on the stuff!

This stuff is kinda awkward to use. It doesn’t work badly as a shampoo, but it isn’t easy to use as a shampoo either. It doesn’t work badly as a body wash, but it isn’t the easiest thing to use as a body wash. It makes some nice bubbles in the bath, but isn’t the most easy product to break down to form bubbles. It is amazing how multiple purpose Snow Fairy Fun is, but it isn’t very easy to use for any one of those purposes! Basically, Snow Fairy Fun is a little bit difficult to use.

I left my Snow Fairy Fun on the side of my bath tub for the longest amount of time. Each time I’d grab a piece of product to use, a little more water would come into contact with the Fun bar. Over time, this caused the consistency of the Fun bar to become really sticky, moist and incredibly difficult to use fully. This is a product that becomes messy very quickly. You’ve been warned!

The scent of Snow Fairy Fun is identical to the smell of bubblegum. It is funny, because I have never related the scent of Snow Fairy shower gel or Snow Fairy body conditioner to having a bubblegum scent, but the Fun bar definitely does! A super sickly, sweet, traditional bubblegum scent. If you don’t like the sweet scent of bubblegum, this product isn’t the one for you!

Not only was this product not the easiest thing to use in the world, it also wasn’t the most effective. It was sort of an all-round meh product.

This Fun bar comes with some cute paper wings and a wand, so that you can use the Fun bar like modelling clay and make yourself a little Snow Fairy. If however, you do not create a model with your Fun bar right away and instead leave the paper pieces wrapped around the bar as you use it, over time the paper pieces will become quite mushy and sort of meld with the bar itself. Basically, the paper wings and wand becomes a part of the Fun bar itself. If this sounds kinda annoying to you then perhaps this isn’t the Fun bar for you!

I eventually potted my Fun into an old black pot from Lush. While in this pot, the Fun bar sometimes would separate, and there would be a layer of watery oil on top of very thick, very dry Snow Fairy Fun. This is because by the time I potted my Fun bar, it was already more of a very thick liquid rather than a solid. I can’t think of anything to compare the consistency to! Either way, it was very difficult to mix the Fun bar back up into a more usable consistency when this would happen.

If I hadn’t moved the Fun bar into a black pot, the product would have leaked out of its plastic wrapper and all over the side of my bath tub. It was quite a hassle to put my Fun bar into a black pot once the product had already become really sticky and moist!

Pros:

I mostly used Snow Fairy Fun to shave with. It worked just fine to do this with – not perfectly, but just fine. If you are on the hunt for a new shaving cream, maybe this Fun bar would work for you!

I bought this Fun bar during the Boxing Day sales, and only used it up Sunday 8th May. That’s 4-5 months worth of using this product – and I did use it quite frequently! This is a very long lasting product.

The concept, colours and scent of Snow Fairy Fun are really cute! I mean, it’s called Snow Fairy, smells like bubblegum, is pink, white and gold and comes with a set of wings and a wand so that you can build your own Snow Fairy. How cute is that?! This is the type of product that would be absolutely perfect as a gift for a little girly girl – or for any lady who has an inner little girly girl!

Again, this Fun bar is incredibly multi-purpose. You can use it to shampoo your hair, wash your entire body, provide yourself with a nice bubbly bubble bath to bathe, can be used to play with in the bath as a bit of entertainment AND, as I discovered, can be used to shave with! One product that is designed to do practically everything. Everyone needs one of these in their home!

Snow Fairy Fun being so multi-purpose also makes it the perfect product to travel with – at least when it is still a dry product! I brought a different Fun bar with me to Turkey in the, and it was absolutely amazing!

This is a vegan, natural, handmade product from Lush 🙂

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I’m going to miss having a good ol’ Fun bar in the house. They are just so incredibly useful to have around! I haven’t quite got the nack of how best to store them yet though – I know that next time I’m definitely going to make a model before anything else, and then pot the product straight away. I just need to figure out how best to avoid introducing moisture into the product! Perhaps I could wrap most of the product up and put it away somewhere, and just have one segment in use at all times. I don’t know.

This specific Fun bar was quite nice – although the scent was definitely a bit too sweet for me. I also really wasn’t keen on the paper parts that came with this bar, and just found them to be a bit of a pain. I also don’t like that this is an exclusive product.

The concept of Snow Fairy Fun is brilliant though, and the product itself is a travelers best friend!

Overall, I’m going to rate Snow Fairy Fun a 3/5* rating. It was definitely mostly a good product – as I think all Fun bars are. I just wasn’t keen on the scent of it, and I wish they were a little easier to use and a bit more effective!
