Lush New Shampoo Bar Review

New Shampoo Bar:

new_shampoo_bar_be_cruelty_free_solid_shot_1 (2)

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

This shampoo bar doesn’t leave your hair feeling COMPLETELY cleansed. What I mean by this is that although it does leave your hair clean, it also seems to add something back into your hair. I don’t know if it’s the glycerine or the oils within this shampoo bar, but I know some people just want their hair to feel super squeaky clean when they are done with shampooing!

The scent isn’t sweet, fruity or foodsy. The scent of New is quite green, minty and spicy. It has a very fresh scent, with hints of earthy and woodsy scents thrown in there. I know some people aren’t drawn to these sorts of scents!

I found that the New shampoo bar did stick quite a bit to the surface that I would lay it on once I was done using it in the shower (I rested it on top of a shower jelly lid.) This would leave behind quite a bit of sticky shampoo bar residue, and was quite annoying!

Pros:

I personally think the way that New shampoo bar leaves your hair feeling is REALLY nice! It leaves your hair feeling slightly conditioned, which is something I personally appreciate 🙂 I found that the shampoo bar being fairly moisturising also meant that my hair would be more smooth, tame and manageable after washing my hair!

This is a really refreshing shampoo bar. The mint and spices in New make your scalp feel super fresh, and the scents that this bar gives off are just what anyone needs to help them wake up and feel energized!

New has a little wooden stick embedded in the top of the bar, that says #BeCrueltyFree on it. I think this is a really cute addition to the shampoo bar, and is something that you can keep afterwards if you’re insanely sentimental like I am…

Most importantly, New shampoo bar does its job! This shampoo bar always cleaned my hair as much as any other shampoo would do which, ultimately, is what is the purpose of a shampoo is in the first place.

The scent is very unisex in my opinion. Many of Lush’s products carry scents that can be very obviously geared toward females, by being stereotypically sweet, foodsy and fruity scented. That isn’t the case with New shampoo bar, which I think is fantastic!

New shampoo bar lathers up absolutely amazingly.

Shampoo bars always last a pretty good amount of time before they are completely used up, and this one is no different. It lasted me and my partner absolutely ages!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I think New shampoo bar is definitely a very good option if you’re looking to try a new shampoo. It isn’t an absolutely perfect product, but I do think it is pretty amazing, especially for a shampoo! It just always left my hair feeling so amazing and more conditioned than most shampoos leave my hair, and made my hair overall feel really healthy.

Overall, I rate New shampoo bar a 5/5* rating. Again, it wasn’t absolutely perfect, but it was good enough to warrant this rating!

I’d highly recommend giving this product a try if you haven’t done so already 🙂

New Lush Permanent Line Items?

Okay guys, so I don’t know much about anything to do with new products that are coming to Lush. What I do know is that Lush have been saying that they will be releasing some new products soon, hence why they’ve been discontinuing so many, and I do know that Lush are announcing on Thursday for North America what some of those products will be.

Being in the UK means that the new products released will be different to the new products that we will get in the UK – the US doesn’t have a lot of products that the UK does, so a lot of their “new” products will be ones already available in the UK.

I became curious, so I did a quick search on the UK site. I typed ‘coming soon’. Lo and behold, several new products appeared! I don’t know if these are purely going to be for the Kitchen or what, but their ‘coming soon’ labels are in black – which usually mean that they are products that will be available in store (even if just in the Oxford Street store.)

Here they are!:

newproducts1newproducts2newproducts3newproducts4newproducts5

I’m so excited! Guysss! I would click on each and send pictures with each product’s description, but if you guys are curious then I’m sure you can manage doing so yourself! Just search for the product’s name and it will come up 🙂 I’m going to go have a look right now! So the products are:

  1. Rocket Science – Vegan
  2. Birth Of Venus Face Mask – Vegan
  3. Cheer Up Buttercup Bath Bomb – Vegan
  4. Marmalade Jelly Bomb – Vegan
  5. Just To Clarify Face Mask – Vegan
  6. The Big Sleep Jelly Bomb – Vegan
  7. Rump Bottom Rub – Vegan
  8. Marilyn Hot Oil Treatment – Vegan
  9. Damaged Hot Oil Treatment – Vegan
  10. Hair Doctor Hot Oil Treatment – Not Vegan
  11. Bunny Moon Jelly Mask – Not Vegan
  12. Green Coconut Jelly Bomb – Vegan
  13. 1000 Millihelens Jelly Mask – Vegan
  14. Fomo Jelly Mask – Vegan
  15. Dark Arts Jelly Bomb – Vegan
  16. New Hot Oil Treatment – Vegan

Potentially 16 new products! As I said, I don’t know for sure whether these will be permanent line or anything, but it is exciting none the less!

Lush Yellow Submarine Bath Bomb Review

Yellow Submarine Bath Bomb:

Rating: 3/5*

Cons:

This bath bomb leaves the bath water looking like many people peed in it. I’m not even kidding – it looks super yellow and kinda slightly frothy, but really not in a good way! If you HATE bathing in water that has this sort of a look to it, this is not a bath bomb you want to try!

The scent is quite sickly. To me it smelled like very sweet creamed coconut, or maybe coconut yoghurt. Either way, a super sweet coconut scent that definitely won’t be for everyone!

My Yellow Submarine tipped onto it’s side a little way into its show, and never turned back upright again. I like to let my bath bombs do their own thing, so I just left it that way. I expected him to float around upright for the entire show, so this was a little disappointing!

The colour the bath water turns is a real let down, because the show that the bath bomb provides is so colourful!

The scent of this bath bomb is very subtle – I could hardly smell it at all once I was in the tub, and couldn’t even really smell it very well while the bath bomb was fizzing away. If you like strongly scented bath bombs, this isn’t the one for you!

This was an exclusive product from Lush Oxford Street, and isn’t something that is readily available year-round. If you happen to get your hands on it, and happen to really like it, you’re going to find it difficult to stock up on!

This one was a really, really, really, REALLY slow fizzer. I honestly became a little antsy and fed up after around the 5 minute mark! I’m guessing the bath bomb took around 15 minutes to fizz away entirely. If you do not like slow fizzers, this one isn’t for you!

This bath bomb looks to me like it should smell of banana and marshmallow – like those banana candies and foamy candies in general that you eat as a child. It doesn’t smell like that at all though!

Pros:

This product is so cute! I mean, c’mon, it’s a bloomin’ yellow submarine!!! This product made me so nostalgic of times when I would watch The Yellow Submarine as a kid. The colours of the bath bomb and the show it provides perfectly represent the film. The Yellow Submarine bath bomb begins blowing out groovy bubbles toward the beginning of its show, and fizzes out beams of pink, yellow and pale yellow foam. The bath bomb slowly fizzes away around the bath tub, in a super chill fashion. I think this is the type of product that anyone who has seen The Yellow Submarine HAS to try at least once!

I really liked the colours of this bath bomb. They were super cute – a pale yellow submarine with a bright pink tail end.

The bath bomb really helped to soften my skin, and when it came to exfoliating (something I always do after washing my face and before shaving,) I was able to remove loads of dead skin! I know that’s pretty nasty, but my skin was soooo smooth and soft afterwards! If you want to have super smooth skin then exfoliate after bathing with this guy!

I received this as a gift from my partner, and it made a really fun gift! Perhaps this would be a good bath bomb to give to a Yellow Submarine fan as a gift 🙂

This product is vegan and, of course, is a Lush product! Two very good things 🙂

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I loved the concept and appearance of this bath bomb SO MUCH! I also liked the softening effect that it had on my skin. The idea of the bath bomb was brilliant overall, but I wasn’t personally very keen on the scent of it. It was too sickly for me! The scent was also way too subtle for me – I love it when I can still smell the bath bomb in my hair the morning after having taken a bath. This bath bomb also fizzes away WAY too slowly, and the end result was kinda icky to be honest.

Overall, I’m going to rate this bath bomb a 3/5* rating. It was a really fun concept for a bath bomb, and I’m really glad it was one that I got to try! The cons were pretty big for me though to be honest.

Lush Cheer Up Buttercup Bath Bomb Review

My partner bought me this as a cute gift the other week! He said he went to the Lush Oxford Street store and asked for exclusive items, and that they showed him this 🙂

Cheer Up Buttercup Bath Bomb

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

This has a super sweet sherbet lemon scent to it. If that sounds horrid to you, don’t try it!

This bath bomb leaves the bath water a very translucent greeny-yellow colour. Not everyone’s cup of tea.

This bath bomb doesn’t really leave much bath art on the surface of the bath water after it has finished fizzing away.

Lots of little bits come out of this bath bomb while it fizzes, which is absolutely fine. However, once in the bath, these pieces kept freaking me out! One piece was really big, and I honestly thought it was some sort of bug like a wasp or something, so I scooped it out with my comb in an attempt to save it – only to find it was actually just another planty piece from the bath bomb! I’d also find little pieces stuck to my legs which, from a bit of a distance, looked like some sort moths or flies were stuck to my legs. If this sounds kinda creepy to you then perhaps it is best you not try this bath bomb.

I found that because this bath bomb left the bath water a very translucent colour to begin with, any product I used in the bath would really colour the water, until I was left with a really murky, grey, dirty, soapy looking bath! If you like your baths to be very colourful, this bath bomb won’t provide you with that.

Once the bath bomb has fizzed away, the scent is still there, but not as strong as it is when the bath bomb is in solid form.

This was an exclusive product, and isn’t readily available to purchase from stores at the moment. That means that if you do manage to find one of these bath bombs, and happen to love it, you could find yourself in a bit of a pickle trying to stock up on some more!

Pros:

I think the scent of Cheer Up Buttercup is absolutely amazing! It REALLY does smell like Lemon Sherbet sweets… Mmm… Just for the scent, this bath bomb is TOTALLY worth a go!

The scent of the bath bomb will last for the entire duration of your bath, and even leaves a subtle scent behind on your skin, hair and in the air 🙂

This bath bomb helped chill me out and cheer me up! I was all stressed out and moody before I got into my bath, and I came out feeling super chilled out and very happy! It was definitely great for improving my mental state.

This bath bomb is really moisturising!

The name is absolutely adorable. I mean, Cheer Up Buttercup, c’mon. So cute!

The colour of the bath bomb is a super cute pastel yellow colour, and it has little delicate purple flowers pressed into the top of it. So pretty and gorgeous!

The little purple flowers floating around are quite relaxing (so long as you don’t mistake them for being bugs in your water.) I also love the colour purple and think the flowers themselves are absolutely gorgeous.

I think the colour of this bath bomb and the colour it left my bath water also helped perk me up. Yellow is just such a happy, sunny, optimistic colour!

This was a perfect gift from my partner. It is just so cute! If you want to give someone a really thoughtful and cute gift, this is the perfect item to do that with.

I didn’t notice this until just a bit ago, but the price of this bath bomb was actually only £2.95. This is AMAZING value for what this bath bomb has to offer!

This being an exclusive bath bomb certainly makes it feel like quite a special item to own and to use 🙂

The inside of this bath bomb was an adorable bright pink colour!

The final bath art left behind was just a subtle ombre rainbow type effect – one end was more pink, which faded to orange, then yellow, then green, then blue. Each colour was super subtle and really pretty!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I really liked this bath bomb! It was just so incredibly cute, and really uplifting.

I’m going to rate this bath bomb a 5/5* rating. I know I had quite a few complaints about it, but its pros just carried so much more weight. It really was a lovely bath bomb to use, and I’m so blessed to have been able to receive it as a gift from my partner 🙂

Beginner’s Guide: Lush

  1. BEING PICKY –   Before anything else, I’d like to say something that I wish someone had told me before I started out. DON’T BE AFRAID TO TRY ANY PRODUCTS! As long as they align with your ethics (are vegan for vegans and vegetarian for vegetarians,) they are all worth a shot.

All of Lush’s products are easy to use and handle, so you won’t have a major problem with acne, dry skin etc by using one of their products. What I mean by this is yes, some products might not agree with your skin, but just discontinuing use of said product will fix your skin up very, very quickly. In my opinion, everything is worth a go within your ethical beliefs.

Before I had ever been to Lush, I was scared of buying products that might clog my pores. I now know that when a product has pore-clogging ingredients, it will also generally have anti-pore clogging ingredients. They sort of cancel each other, just leaving behind the positive effects of said ingredients. Don’t be scared!!! Your skin wont die!!!

  2. LOOK AT THE WEBSITE –  Secondly, I am so glad that I had a good look around the Lush website before going into the store for my first haul. I was able to get a fairly good grasp of a lot of the products, and was able to figure out what it was that I wanted to try first. This is an absolute must for Lush first timers!

    golden_handshake

  3. LUSH EMPLOYEES – This is one I WISH I had been warned about. You need to know how to handle Lush employees. They won’t always act in your favor, and sometimes they really will. You just need to know what they’re good at and what they’re not so great at.

I had 2 negative experiences due to the Lush employee who was showing me around during my first time in a Lush store: 1. I had a non-vegan cleanser applied to my skin and was only asked whether I had any dietary requirements AFTER she had applied it! 2. I was told to steer away from certain products I was really interested in trying, to the point of convincing me to purchase a different product instead!

Make sure the FIRST thing you do is to tell anybody showing you around if you have any dietary/ethical requirements whatsoever. Also, if they are trying to steer you away from a certain product, be pretty adamant that you want to try it. This is your haul so you do what you came in to do!

    img_3472-2

  4. FREE SAMPLES –  The next thing I wish I had been told is that samples are a really, really, REALLY good idea. When I first went into a Lush store, I was offered to try one of the products I had gone in to purchase as part of my haul (Coalface) as a sample instead of buying a chunk of it. I refused, and said I wanted a full product.

Over 2 years later and I still have plenty of that chunk of Coalface left (the sample would have been plenty!,) and samples are my favourite thing. You need to purchase something to get anything for free really, but don’t be afraid to ask for samples of a few things you are interested in. I’d say anywhere between 1 and 6 samples is ideal per trip, with 2 or 3 being the most ideal.

Lush employees LIKE when customers want to try a product. They want their customers to try everything they possibly can, in order to increase the chances that they’ll find something they love, and ultimately, come back to the store to make more purchases in the future! ASK FOR SAMPLES. EVERY TIME. WITHOUT FAIL.

  5. VARIETY –  During your first Lush haul, don’t stick to one product type. When I first went in, I was just trying to look for facial products. There are so many types of products in store, and you will get a much better taste of the shop as a whole if you buy products from different categories.

For example, perhaps you could buy a bath bomb like The Experimenter, a fresh facial cleanser like Dark Angels and a conditioner like Veganese for your first haul! Keep it varied guys!

    cloak_of_invisibility_0

  6. HOW MUCH TO SPEND AND BUY –  For your first haul, I’d recommend trying 3 products. That’s enough for you to really get a taste of the brand in my opinion, without delving in too deep. I bought 3 products during my first haul, and it was the perfect amount!

My first haul was somewhere between 20 and 30 pounds, which is the sort of price range I’d recommend for your first time too (although, getting an item as a sample should lower your price to between 10 and 20 pounds, whereas getting 2 of these 3 items as a sample would lower your price to under 10 pounds!)

I bought a big chunk (130-140g if I recall correctly) of Coalface, a small tub of Ocean Salt Self-Preserving and Popcorn lip scrub. Again, I’d recommend AGAINST getting products all for the face, all for the hair, all for the bath etc for your first haul!

    img_2373-2

  7. BE CONFIDENT –  Most of all, don’t be scared. My first time going in, I tried to be confident and chat with the employees, I let them cleanse and tone my face, I smelled and picked up lots of different items… Don’t be shy.

If you get the impulse to try a soap at the tap then there should be a sample by the sink ready for you to try. If you get the sudden impulse to plonk a bath bomb in a tub of water to see what it looks like, ask an employee to do a demo for you. If you suddenly want to spritz yourself with a perfume to see what it smells like on, go ahead and try the sample! Don’t be shy!

Whereas most beauty shops are somewhat strict and almost suspicious of customers, Lush are trusting and encourage touching, smelling and trying their products.

I hope this helped some of you wanting to make your first trip to Lush! Enjoy yourselves 🙂
