Lush Magical Moringa Moisturiser Review

Magical Moringa Moisturiser:

Rating: 3/5*

Cons:

If you want to really feel your face feeling very moisturised after using a moisturiser, this is not the one for you! After using a moisturiser, I like to really be able to feel the product on my skin, so that I know it is doing its job! After applying a lot of this moisturiser you can feel it on the skin, but… I don’t know… It just doesn’t really feel as moisturising as any other moisturiser I have used from Lush to be honest!

Sometimes, I actually found this moisturiser to be drying to my skin! My concealer would sit terribly and wouldn’t be able to blend out well at all when applied over a layer of Magical Moringa… Honestly, I think this moisturiser by itself is pretty terrible!

Any makeup on my face would just look dry, flakey, cakey and would just settle in any texture on my face whatsoever, after using this moisturiser by itself. It definitely isn’t one that really improves the overall appearance of one’s makeup!

You have to use A LOT of this product to feel it doing anything at all to your skin.

Okay, this is going to sound strange, but… This moisturiser smells like curry. Like a delicious, spicy curry. Maybe some of you guys don’t want your face smelling like a good ol’curry all day 😀

This moisturiser melts with the warmth of your fingers – it is what it melts into that scares me a bit. It melts into an oil pretty much. Applying something so oily to my skin kind of terrifies me because I have very sensitive skin, so it is easy for me to get acne! If you are quite acne prone then I really wouldn’t suggest this one for you.

THIS MOISTURISER IS SO EXPENSIVE!!! No, seriously. It is definitely a love or hate product so guys, if you are interested please for the love of God, get a sample before purchasing it!

This moisturiser not only doesn’t FEEL very moisturising on the skin at all, it also takes away any APPEARANCE of moisture in your skin. For some people, this is absolutely fantastic! For me, I like some slight dewyness to my skin because I think moisturised skin looks more healthy. If you feel the same way then again, steer away from this little guy!

Pros:

Okay so for me personally, I absolutely love the smell of this moisturiser! I don’t care if my face smells like a Indian spices, so long as it smells good! Like, this is the best smelling moisturiser that I think I’ve ever smelt… It smells absolutely incredible!

This moisturiser applied over the top of a good serum works absolutely fine. In fact, I really like the way this moisturiser works over a serum. It isn’t heavy at all, the serum keeps the skin’s texture slighly dewy and looking healthy, the serum keeps the skin nicely moisturised… Under a serum, this moisturiser just leaves your skin feeling really soft, incredibly smooth and quite lovely!

I haven’t had any absolutely terrible acne while using this moisturiser, although it certainly hasn’t stopped my acne from occurring either. But it at least hasn’t appeared to make it any worse!

I find that I need to re-apply powder to my face a little less when using this moisturiser as opposed to others from Lush. It doesn’t stop me from needing to re-apply powder entirely, but it does keep my face looking alright for longer.

Again, when applied OVER a serum, my makeup just sort of “works” better than it usually would. I don’t have to apply so much concealer because it just goes further over the top of a serum and Magical Moringa. I’m not quite sure why, but it is a really nice quality of this moisturiser.

Honestly, I received this moisturiser as a sample and man, Lush was generous with their sample of this moisturiser. It lasted me a really nice amount of time! Definitely worth asking for a good sample of Magical Moringa Moisturiser to try at home, right?

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, meh… I don’t really know what to think of this one.

For the billionth time, it works nicely under a serum, but do I really want to be applying a serum to my face EVERY MORNING…? I usually prefer to apply a serum before bed or something, so that it can sink in while I sleep and so that my skin doesn’t feel so heavy throughout the day…

The smell is really nice though, and the effects over a serum are honestly pretty damn good.

I’m going to rate this moisturiser a 3/5* rating. It’s a shame because it does smell absolutely delicious… I just don’t really think it was moisturising enough for me.

Before trying Lush products, I would have thought this moisturiser to be absolutely perfect for me, because my skin can get really oily throughout the day. But since using Lush products, I’ve sort of learnt just how much your skin needs moisture in order to be its healthiest, and I just don’t feel that this moisturiser provided that for me personally.

Lush Old Father Time Hand And Body Soap Review

This isn’t a soap I got recently – in fact, I picked it up in the Boxing Day sale back in 2015! I finally used my piece all up, and here is my review for it 🙂

Old Father Time Hand And Body Soap:

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This soap doesn’t have a sweet smell to it. In fact, the scent reminds me almost of… dust? It has a dusty, old book, tree, woodsy, incencey sort of scent to it – if that makes any sense at all! It is a very difficult scent to describe… it sort of smells like a nice smelling hippie’s den haha! Anyway, it isn’t a sweet smell in the slightest really, so if you don’t like more earthy, smokey scents, this one isn’t going to be for you at all!

The lather of this soap is, well, a murky brown-orange-red colour. This isn’t a massive deal, but it does take a bit of getting used to. It definitely does make the soap messier than some of the others that I’ve used, because it really is so pigmented. I know this soap will definitely be too messy for some!

Another problem with the colour of the lather, and of the soap overall, is that it looks almost gorey to me. It is a deep maroon colour, and honestly, when the soap is sitting in its soap dish with browny red coloured soap water dripping down the sides of the sink… I dunno, maybe I’m really weird, but nonetheless I found the appearance of this soap quite creepy – almost like having a chunk of liver in my soap dish!

This was a Christmas Exclusive soap in 2015 – and didn’t even return for 2016! If you happen to really enjoy this soap, you could very well find that you have a difficult time trying to stock up on the stuff I’m afraid!

The scent of Old Father Time definitely fades over time. The scent of my piece of this soap was much milder toward the end of its days. The scent remaining was more of a general soap scent, with just a slight hint of its original scent still present.

Pros:

The design of this soap is SO GORGEOUS! This soap has golden cogs going through it and wow, it is just absolutely stunning. The orangey-golden cogs are absolutely full of lustre and are more creamy and soft than the rest of the soap. Extremely lovely to use!

This soap overall was surprisingly moisturising. I don’t know why, but when I first received this soap I assumed it wouldn’t be very moisturing at all, but it really was. Perhaps not quite AS moisturising as some other soaps but it was pretty damn good! Definitely not a drying soap at least.

The scent is definitely one that both all genders can enjoy. My partner loved this soap and I think it was quite a nice one too. When I asked him if there was anything he would want to add to my review of the soap, he said: “I like how it got softer the more you worked it. I like how creamy it was. It was really nice!” 🙂

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this soap was mostly a pleasure to use. It was definitely a fun experience, it is very different to any other Lush soap I have used thus far!

I am going to rate Old Father Time a 4/5* rating. Honestly, it reminding me of a chunk of liver or… something… really put me off! I would have given it less stars, but how much my partner enjoyed it sort of nudged it up somewhat!

Lush Lord Of Misrule Bath Bomb Review.

Hey guys! 🙂

This is another bath bomb that I received from my lovely partner for Halloween! I hope you enjoy the review 🙂

Lord Of Misrule Bath Bomb

Rating: 4/5

Cons:

Okay, so this bath bomb leaves the bath water a sort of… deep, pinky red colour. I’m not gunna lie, it did sort of remind me of blood mixed with some water… It was a little creepy (I guess that’s the point considering it is a halloween product!) If this sounds a little unnerving to you, I’d suggest you do not try out this bath bomb.

The scent is unusual. It is a musky, peppery, masculine, spicy yet sweet scent. I think it was quite nice, but it definitely wouldn’t be for everyone – especially those of you who enjoy more fruity, floral or girly scents! If it doesn’t sound like your type of thing then I wouldn’t risk trying it!

The actual bath bomb itself is a speckled green colour. Again, not very feminine looking so if you are looking for something more lady-like, Lord Of Misrule is not for you!

IMG_2480 (2).JPG

My Lord Of Misrule Bath Bomb didn’t actually create THAT much bath art. The bath was left with a creamy milky white layer on top of the water, and with a small burgundy pattern at one end of the tub. It was interesting, but simple, so if you’re looking for a work of art in your bath then this isn’t the bath bomb for you!

My bath bomb sank shortly after I put it in the tub, so it was actually really difficult to tell whether it had finished doing it’s thing or not (the bath was covered in the creamy foam at that point.) I don’t like to touch and move and play around with bath bombs while they are in the bath, and prefer to just observe what they will do without me interfering. If you are similar, then this bath bomb is going to be quite annoying for you! Once the bath bomb sunk under water, there was no visible movement or colour release from it whatsoever! The only way I could guess that it had finished fizzing was when the popping candy stopped… well, popping. It definitely took patience!

This bath bomb didn’t have any amazing effects on my skin.

This is an exclusive Halloween product, meaning if you do like it, you’re going to have a hard time getting your hands on it through Spring and Summer!

Pros:

This being an exclusive product means it won’t be around for long, so if you are interested, you should grab one while they’re still in stores!

This is a Lush bath bomb – it is vegan, cruelty free… I honestly thing every vegan product from Lush is worth trying at least once!

The smell is very interesting, and makes a change from Lush’s usual style of scents. I think it is a smell that suit men more – perhaps one to buy for the man in your life to ease him into Lush?

This bath bomb is definitely fun, if nothing else. I really enjoyed trying it and it was a brilliant gift for Halloween.

The deep pinky burgundy colour of the design left on top of the water… wow! Such a gorgeous colour!

IMG_2490 (2).JPG

Although the colour of the bath water did remind me a little of bathing in blood, it also felt a bit like bathing in wine or pomegranate juice. Quite luxurious!

The creamy layer on top of the bath was really interesting, and my skin did feel slightly moisturised after using Lord Of Misrule.

There was a little bit of cold glitter in the bath bomb – I don’t know if this was just residue from my previous glittery bath / residue from a sparkly bubble bar that rubbed off onto Lord Of Misrule, but it might have been from the bath bomb itself! It was pretty either way.

Overall Conclusion:

IMG_2489 (2).JPG

Overall, this was a fun bath bomb to use, but personally it definitely didn’t live up to the massive hype that it has! This is many people’s FAVOURITE bath bomb – Pumpkin, Intergalactic and Butterbear were all DEFINITELY more lovely than Lord Of Misrule (at least for my taste!)

Don’t get me wrong, I am so glad I did try it. It is definitely an interesting one, and one I really feel I may buy my partner in the future 😉

Overall, I rate this bath bomb a 4/5*, only just! Mostly because of the fact that it was a gift from my partner to be honest – and because of how unique it was!
