10 Things I’d like to get done this week.

Here are the main 10 things at the front of my mind that I’d like to get done BEFORE I go back to Uni next Monday, as most of them are kinda essential to living a nice, happy, healthy, functional student life. This is probably a really long and boring list to read but uh, writing it helped me to get myself together for the start of a new day.

    • Going to actually get my bra size professionally measured so that I can wear bras that are actually COMFORTABLE and that actually FIT and LOOK GOOD ON ME! I have literally stopped wearing bras since around a month ago purely because of how uncomfortable they all were on me – so it’s time I get myself down to Selfridges and get myself properly measured for the first time in my life. I chose Selfridges because if I’m going to do something that I’m going to find this uncomfortable, there’s no doubt that I’m going to make sure that I get the job done as properly as possible. Selfridges also sell an insanely good, popular, all-rounder that I have my eye on.
    • Write a blog post about our new kitten Kepler because he is a big change to mine and my fiance’s life and adopting him was a decision that took a lot of thought and consideration.
    • Get my Serious Adverse Circumstances for my missed exam submitted ASAP and to the best of my ability so that I have my best chance of having a deferral to sit the exam in June instead. The exam was worth 80% of the module however I was feeling very unwell that morning and had to miss it – I had NO IDEA how difficult it would be in the end to basically prove that I’m not a liar. It is what it is and I have made all the right decisions, it’s just down to the exam board people to decide if my adverse circumstances were serious enough I guess.
    • Buy myself at least 3 new bras so that I’m at least minimally sorted with all of this bra faff for the time being. Again, I literally haven’t even worn any of my bras for around a month because of HOW UNCOMFORTABLE THEY ARE, so I’m kinda starting from scratch here.
    • Buy some new stationary for Uni from Poundland so I can be restocked and ready for Semester B of my second year on this degree! I bought all my stationary for Semester A during the Summer from Poundland and it was the best decision I could have made – I was able to buy a ton of stuff that was perfect for being a student and for an affordable price. I designated each item a purpose (e.g. for writing assignments, for classwork etc) which has kept me more organised and motivated to produce some really good work so far this year!
    • To declutter everything that I physically own in my flat, so that we can have more space! I’ve been watching the KonMari method on Netflix and it has absolutely inspired me to once again declutter, and without the guilt of feeling ungrateful for owning the things I might decide to get rid of – because the KonMari method involves holding each item individually and thanking it for the service it did for you. Although I’m fairly privileged and never went without when I was growing up, I still grew up in a very low income household, which has caused me to be a bit of a hoarder as an adult – despite my household income being fine now. I just feel so much guilt for getting rid of anything – there’s someone out there who would be so appreciative to own what I’m considering rubbish, and that thought really upsets me. But, I deserve to have space, and giving things to charity allows those people to find the amazing items that don’t fit into my life anymore.
    • Get all of my coursework done really well by Thursday 17th January – because I have two pieces of programming coursework due in by then and I really just need to sit down and get it done really well.
    • Self love needs to happen – I need to appreciate my favourite clothes, test out that Caca Rouge henna sample from Lush, give my hair a trim, post some awesome photos onto Instagram, do my makeup, brows, nails and shave, curl my hair, take a bath and all the other good things that just help me to feel like the awesome person I am!
    • Give my plants so love – give them a good water, put them in the positions that are best for them in the flat and write a blog post about them. I have some of the most gorgeous plants to take care of, and it would be far too sad to not share them with everybody online!

    • I seriously need to replace my phone, buy a camera, sort out my laptop, set up my fitbit, get myself a computer and buy some speakers for our TV. I know that this sounds like a lot, but it’s because I’ve left everything for so damn long, so my electronic needs have seriously begun to pile up. I’ve had my phone for 2 years and 9 months – 9 months longer than when my contract ended, and it’s an iPhone guys so this is pretty serious. I’ve been wanting a camera since forever – the amount of times per day I literally have to delete some of the few photos, apps and videos I store on my phone just to make enough space to re-install messenger because my phone decided to uninstall it because of lack of space. It’s ridiculous and I just need a damn designated camera and SSD card for all of my photos and videos. My laptop has been broken since around the beginning of my 3-year degree, so around 15 months ago I’d say, and I kinda need a laptop to do my work as I also don’t own a computer. I’ve just been borrowing Richard’s old work laptop since then but I really want my own one to be fixed as best as possible! My fitbit I’ve had for just over 3 years now and have hardly used because I wasn’t committed enough for fitness, however now I am and would love to make use of this nifty gadget. I want a computer because I just kinda do… I can’t really justify this one very well – I just love the reliability of actual PCs I guess and really miss having one, as I haven’t had my own one since around 5 years and 10 months ago. Now, we’ve had our TV for just over 3 years, and it has never had any speakers with it. The sound that you get purely from the monitor itself is absolutely awful – this is an absolute must!
      That’s about everything for now!

There are of course more things that I’d like to do before next Monday, but I don’t want to overwhelm myself so I’ll just keep adding new things as I get things done on this list.

5 Lists About 5 Things

Hey ya’ll!

I saw my lovely blogger friend Lise’s post for this idea, linked here. Please head over to her blog and read her post too!

5 Lists About 5 Things:

5 Things I Often Say:

  • “Uhhm…” is a thing I say super often because I find it really difficult to articulate my thoughts, so I’ll say “Uhhm…” when I’m trying to think about what to say next!
  • “Hey” is usually how I greet people, so I guess I say it quite a bit 🙂
  • “HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!” is how I greet my partner when he comes home! I’m always very excited to see him!
  • “For f*ck’s sake!” is something I say quite frequently when I get very very annoyed… Which happens quite a lot…
  • “Meow” is something I also say quite a lot when I’m at home – I absolutely love cats and think they’re just insanely adorable so of course I enjoy mimicking them!

5 Things I Often Think:

  • “Everything, everything, everything, everything…” is something I think a lot. I’m sure it makes absolutely no sense to any of you reading this, but it’s basically my brain-prompt to make sure I don’t forget anything!
  • “From all angles” is another thought I have a lot. It’s my way of reminding myself to make sure that I’ve approached the subject from all angles and again, that I haven’t forgotten to include anything. It’s something I particularly like to do when it comes to posting on social media sites.
  • “I need to lose weight, I shouldn’t eat that, I should be dieting today to get back to my ideal weight…” is a thought process I have a lot. Everybody says that weight fluctuates – well, mine doesn’t really. My weight just naturally inches it’s way up and up the scales, and it takes some work to maintain a specific weight. This means that every few weeks I’m back to having a few lbs to lose, hence why I have this thought process pretty often.
  • “I need to do something about my damaged hair, I need to do something about my unhealthy skin, I need to study for this exam, need to do this , need to do that, need to do everything…” Yep, I have fairly severe anxiety so I’m basically perpetually worried and stressing out about literally everything that I “need” to do.
  • “I love Richard so much…” He’s my partner and I’m fairly obsessed with him, despite us having been together (and living together) for almost 5 years now!

5 Things I Dream About At Night:

  • My dreams are fairly disturbing but I promise you that I am a normal sane human being. I think it’s from watching the entire “Britain’s Darkest Taboos” series on TV! Something I dream about a lot is about murdering people and then having to deal with the aftermath – hiding/disposing of the body, not getting found out by the police or by anyone for that matter, going into hiding, making sure I don’t leave behind any DNA or any “trail” of any kind etc… I know that sounds proper creepy, but if it helps then the people I end up killing in my dreams are always people who tried hurting/killing other people – usually my family members.
  • Sometimes I dream about having a baby with my partner! I’m insanely excited to one day have a baby and be a mother!
  • I have SO MANY DREAMS where I’m just running away from something. Just running, running, running and hiding… Running down streets, into back alleys, jumping people’s back garden fences, climbing buildings… Like, literally non-stop running away from something. One time I was running away from these monsters that were trying to EAT ME. One caught me and ate me and it was the most terrifying dream I’ve ever had I swear to God.
  • I have a lot of fairly psychedelic dreams. I’ve had dreams of being in a flying yellow submarine, and then everyone’s face started melting after eating lemon sherbet hard boiled sweets. I had another dream where my father turned literally bright green and shrunk to the size of a baby, so we put him into a crib and it turned out that this was all happening because he was really ill and was dying. Then the sky turned dark red and the sun set and everyone had really weirdly long shadows, and everyone had to evacuate that village thing but we had to leave my dad behind because, well, he was a dying green baby in a crib (still with his normal head BTW, just a baby’s body.) It was weird.
  • I’ve had some dreams where I’m living another life. Ones where I’m in the army have been really exciting. Another one I had was where I was the girl from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and I was trying to sneak into some castle building thing, and there were loads of flying monkeys everywhere.

5 Things I Order Abroad:

  • I’ve ordered a beanie hat and a jumper from abroad once a couple of years ago… I think they were from China.
  • I literally think that’s it. Everything is just cheaper to get delivered from England and you can get most stuff from this country so I don’t really ever feel like I’m missing out on anything!

5 Things I Wish Would Happen Before The End Of The Year:

  • I wish that I’ll get proposed to and engaged before the end of the year!
  • I wish that I’ll achieve some more health goes by the end of the year – I’d be happy if I can even just maintain my ideal weight, drink a good amount of water everyday and fit in a nice amount of exercise daily!
  • I wish that I’d receive a 70% average for my first year of my Astrophysics degree – a 1:1! I should get those results in June, so I definitely wish for this by the end of the year!
  • I wish that me and my partner would move out somewhere more north (we’re thinking High Barnet) by the end of the year. A nice fresh new start!
  • I wish that I would get my first body mod since forever before the end of the year – something super meaningful to me, probably a tattoo!

Thanks for reading! Phew, that post turned out to be longer than I had anticipated. I really like to ramble on, don’t I?!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Feel free to leave a comment below if you found any of my points (or “things”) interesting. I’d also love to hear what some of you lot would put in your lists!

The Happiness Tag

Tagged by Lise at Lushtivity!

The rules for this tag
List five things that makes you happy
Share five songs that makes you happy
Tag at least five bloggers that makes you happy

What makes me happy:

  1. RICHARD! Richard is my amazing partner and he makes me more happy than anything else in the world! Especially when he’s happy and smiling 🙂 Nobody knows me as well as he does, and he accepts me for all my negative traits whilst loving me for all my positive ones. He’s genuinely made me a far more kind and better person than I’ve probably ever been before in my life. He’s my ray of sunshine 🙂
  2. My family. All my family members are healthy enough and are alive, and are such lovely people! Sure, we have our little arguments sometimes like anyone does, but we are generally such a close family that those things don’t really matter much to us. My family always have been and always will be there for me, and I for them. They’re the most accepting people I’ve ever met, and I always feel super comfortable when I’m around them! You guys are awesome 🙂
  3. Nature! Lise also listed this as one of the things that makes her most happy, and it’s definitely in my top 5 list too! Animals and nature overall is just… So true to itself, if that makes sense. If an animal ever did hurt another animal, it is usually because of it being their instinct to do so. I don’t know – I feel like humans can be sinister and cruel when they’re easily able not to be, however I think when an animal seems to act “cruel”, it is purely in their nature – if that makes any sense (like when a cat sees a mouse and tries to kill it, it is practicing hunting techniques and would find it extremely hard to avoid doing so!) I don’t think an animal would ever hurt another purely for the sake of doing it / out of pleasure of seeing the animal hurt, whereas some humans do! All nature – plants, scenery, animals, the weather… It all makes me very happy!
  4. Art! All forms – dance, music, paintings, makeup, film… I think creativity and personal expression is such an important part of life. No two pieces of art are exactly the same, or come from exactly the same perspective. I just love the uniqueness of it 😀
  5. Lush. Okay, so this one may seem a bit shallow, but it really does mean a lot to me. I love using Lush products, and they really have improved the health of my body (skin, hair, teeth etc.) I think they’re products are such lovely things to indulge in, and help you to remember that your health comes first! They’re products are just all so lovely, and the entire Lush experience just makes me feel so happy!

Five songs that make me happy:

Now, I found coming up with songs that make me feel happy to be pretty difficult – there are an awful lot of good songs in the world. My solution to this problem was to provide songs that invoke happy thoughts and feelings, in relation to each of the things that make me happy from the list above

1. Buffy and Spike – Let Me Rest In Peace.
So, this is a track from the musical episode in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Me and my partner absolutely love the series, and it was even the first series we watched together, almost 4 years ago. We particularly enjoy this song, and have sung it many a time together.

2. Politicide – Last Mourning.
Okay, so basically, me and my siblings were brought up with parents who were in a Punk band! They’d often go to gigs, and would regularly bring us guys with them (even when we were REALLY little!) I’ve been brought up with their music – them recording their music in the home, listening to their music in the car… There aren’t many of their songs on YouTube, but this is one of the songs that we all listened to a lot! Mostly due to us kids – we absolutely loved it but I don’t think it was a particular favourite of my parents! My mother was the bassist, my father the singer and electric guitar player, and my father’s friend was the drummer of the band 🙂

3. Bach Cello Suite No. 1.
Okay, so there is something just so beautiful and pure about this piece – which is exactly what I love about nature. It’s so calm and is lovely to just listen to 🙂

4. Los Aldeanos – Los Aldeanos ft Bebe
This one might seem like an odd choice, but I really, really enjoy the creativity put into this song! It was a hard decision because gosh – my favourite artists are all super creative. Bjork, FKA Twigs, Marina and the Diamonds, Sia, Kimbra, Tricky, Lovage, Massive Attack, The Specials… I chose this song though, because… I couldn’t even say. I don’t know. I just think this song has been beautifully put together. I can’t even speak Spanish, so for me it’s more about the sounds the individual’s voices combines with the music that I really appreciate. It just sounds so beautiful, and I love the contrast of singing styles within the song.

5. Nature Sounds
Okay, so this isn’t really a song… Basically, if you type “Nature Sounds” into Youtube, or “Rainforest Sounds,” or anything along those lines, many long recordings of nature sounds will come up. I LOVE LISTENING TO THIS STUFF! It’s so calming, so beautiful, so relaxing, so perfect. I mean, I’d much prefer to just be outside and be in the actual location that the recording was taken, but hey, that’s not always possible. When it isn’t, these tracks will really transport you places! I’ve related these to Lush because of course, Lush is all about nature 🙂

I’ve tagged people before and they didn’t end up writing responses – which is all cool I mean, nobody should feel forced to write anything that they don’t feel like writing! But, since this is the case, I’m not going to be tagging anyone this time. It is time consuming to do, and well, seems pointless! If you want to do this tag, then consider yourself tagged by myself 🙂

If you DO do this tag, please comment below with the post. I’d love to read it!
