Lush Reindeer Rock Soap Review

This is for the new design of the Reindeer Rock soap from the exclusive Christmas range in 2016. I only just used up this soap a little while ago – here is my review of the product!

Lush Reindeer Rock Soap

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This soap doesn’t smell like anything incredible. It sort of smells slightly sweet and tangy, very floral, fresh and citrusy. Mostly floral and citrusy. It doesn’t have a bad scent, it just isn’t anything absolutely amazing in my opinion!

You can’t buy a specific amount of this soap. It comes in one set size and shape, so if you wanted to try a sample or if you wanted to buy a bigger piece of the soap, you’d be out of luck! Steer clear of this soap if you enjoy picking the amount of soap you want to purchase!

This soap was a Christmas exclusive product from 2016. This means you can’t buy it in store anymore – and it may not even return next Christmas! If you do somehow get your hands on some of this soap, and happen to really love it, you’re going to have a difficult time stocking up on the stuff!

Back to the scent – it wasn’t very Christmasy at all. The scent is more of a Spring/Summer scent to me!

This soap has quite a Christmasy name and also has quite a Christmasy appearance. This is a con, because it means that it may feel strange to use this soap during other times of the year. The scent and the appearance of this soap just do not go well together in my opinion!

I found this soap to be drying on my hands. Not extremely so, but I did notice a tiny little bit of dry skin on a couple of different days when I had been using Reindeer Rock as my hand soap.

Pros:

This soap looks absolutely gorgeous! It is in the shape of a stone, and is a gorgeous vibrant blue colour. It also has a caveman-style reindeer engraved into the top of it, which is coloured with golden lustre. The main blue soap itself also has golden lustre running all the way through it, which looks absolutely stunning.

Reindeer Rock soap lathers up wonderfully, and stays in tact pretty well. It only started breaking up once there was hardly any soap left at all, and it lathered up well fairly consistently.

I think the smell is quite pleasant. Again, not amazing, but it definitely is nice and entirely unoffensive.

The colour of the soap stays until the soap is completely gone. This, I have found, is quite rare with a Lush soap! The colour does fade, but it is definitely still a bright blue colour until its last use.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, me and my partner really enjoyed using this soap. It is probably the best lathering soap I have used from Lush to this day, stays together better than any Lush soap I have used to this day, and also retains its colour better than any Lush soap I have used to this day.

It wasn’t perfect though – but it definitely was a pleasure to use!

Overall, I’m going to rate this soap a 4/5* rating. If the scent was more down my alley, it would have been a 5* rating!

Lush Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask Review

Golden Handshake Hot Hand Mask:

Rating: 2/5*

Cons:

Messy: This hand mask is insanely messy. It is really waxy in texture once is starts to dry, and dripped all over my lovely dressing gown while I was using it! I’m hoping it will wash out in the washing machine, but I’m not certain whether it will. It is messy because you are supposed to put your hands in a bowl full of the melted mask and massage the mask into your hands for 15 minutes. You then have to go to a sink to rinse the mask off. I think that unless I had literally used the mask at the sink or whilst in the bath, I couldn’t have avoided making a mess! If this sounds like a hassle to you, then don’t get it!

Inconvenient: While this mask is on your hands, doing anything is pretty much impossible. It might sound like a doddle – it’s just 15 minutes, right? If you get an itch on any part of your body, you will instantly have gooey, waxy residue left behind in that spot. Lovely. If you need to answer the door, well, you’re screwed! What if your phone rings of if you urgently need to respond to a message? No can do! Pretty much anything and everything is impossible to do with this hand mask on. Even just using my hands to remove the bowl of hand mask from my lap when I went to rinse the mask off, was a hassle. Christ, even turning the tap on was a nightmare! Again, this product is SUPER MESSY!!!

Texture and Consistency: The fact that this mask dries sort of waxy is annoying. It is really difficult to remove from anything it gets onto, and if you want to save the mask in the fridge for a while, some waxy residue will be left behind on the bowl it is in too (also not the easiest or most pleasant to wash off!) Where do you rinse out a bowl of hot hand mask anyways? In the kitchen sink – doesn’t really seem appropriate. The bath seemed most appropriate to me, although now the mask has just helped clog up the bath’s drain, and has also left a gross, waxy, dangerous (slippery) hand mask residue behind on the bottom of the bath! THIS PRODUCT IS SUCH A PAIN!!!

Doesn’t Keep: Okay, so after using the mask, you will find there is this a huge amount of product left behind in the bowl you used. I wanted to save this in the fridge, so that I could re-use it at a later date. Some time passed (okay, maybe it was a few weeks but still!) and the bowl of hand mask literally had mould growing on it. It was really nasty. I didn’t re-use it sooner because, well, my first experience with using the stuff was so terrible. Still, this definitely doesn’t last as long as any other Lush product I have used before. If you want something you can re-use over a long period of time, this isn’t the one for you!

Scent: The smell to me wasn’t pleasant at all. It smelled pretty gross actually, almost like the smell of hair dye or something – perhaps with a slightly buttery, slight citrus scent to it. I’m not sure why this is, but it definitely didn’t smell great.

Time Consuming: This mask took ages to melt, and was a very boring process. You are supposed to stir it continuously, until the mask develops, thickens and becomes a “dreamy, creamy lotion.” For it to achieve this state, it took at LEAST 15 minutes (somewhere between 15 and 30 minutes.) I had the TV on so this wasn’t so horrid, but it was tedious. This was with using boiling water. At least it taking so long to develop gave the mask time to cool down! If you don’t have a lot of time on your hands, this isn’t a product for you!

Very Hot!: The only bowl I had that was an appropriate size to fit BOTH MY HANDS in comfortably was a metal bowl. Since I had to use boiling water in order for this mask to actually melt, this of course made the bowl itself very hot to the touch. It was quite difficult to move around – and I’d imagine it wouldn’t be much better if the bowl were made of glass! If you don’t want to risk burning yourself, don’t try this mask!

Drying: This mask didn’t even make my hands soft or moisturised. I’m not even kidding – I’m pretty sure my hands ended up DRIER than they were before I used the mask on them!!! I’m not even sure how this is the case – perhaps it is because of the mask being warm, although it is more likely because of the main ingredient of the mask being “Cetearyl Alcohol & Sodium Lauryl Sulfate,” an alcohol and SLS mixture (both known to be quite drying on the skin!) These are also the ingredients that make the product waxy in consistency. The drying effect was probably due to serveral of the ingredients combined together to be honest, as it isn’t just made of butters and oils (the mask also contains citric acid, perfume, sodium bicarbonate…) If you want something that is really going to do your hands some good, don’t try this hand mask!

Stressful: I didn’t really find this mask to even be relaxing – as a pamper session should be. To me, it was actually rather stressful, because it got everywhere and was a nuisance to clean up. I also didn’t anticipate the entire process taking quite so long, so I became rather stressed and antsy while using it! This definitely isn’t the most calming or relaxing of products that Lush do make!

Pros:

Only Hand Mask: This is the only hand mask that Lush do, so if you want to try a hand mask from Lush, give it a go!

Looks Cute: This hand mask does look insanely cute! It comes in a solid form, and is in the shape of a little hand, covered in golden lustre. It is attached to a wooden stick, and has a little piece of cardboard wrapped around it that has all the ingredients and instructions written on it. If you like cute looking products, maybe this is one for your collection!

Cozy: This hand mask did feel nice and comfortable on the skin whilst actually using it. It was really warm and comforting!

Provides Time to Yourself: If you want to find a way to slow down and to just have some time to yourself, then this is definitely a good product for that purpose. It takes a long time to use, and requires a lot of patience. Using this product will force you to have a good hour or so to yourself (once you include all the preparations and after cleanup!) Try this hand mask if you need some time to wind down!

Novel: This is quite a novel product – you could very well find the novelty of it to be fun!

A Lush Product!: Lush is a fantastic company, and honestly, I think every one of their products (that are vegan) are worth trying at least once! Some people really love this hand mask, so it is worth a try!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I honestly really didn’t enjoy this hand mask. It is a real shame, because it is currently the only hand mask that Lush do! I really hope they make some new ones, because this being the only hand mask they do means that regardless of my rating, it is still my favourite Lush hand mask!

I think this hand mask was a right pain to use. It was just extremely messy, inconvenient, time consuming – and didn’t even work!

I’m going to have to rate this product a 2/5* rating, and that is me being very generous. Honestly, the only reason why I’m giving it 2 stars is because it is a really adorable product! I could imagine that it would look really cute in a glass jar, as a piece of decoration in a bathroom, along with some reusable bubble bars and hair masks! Like a cute jar of lollipops or flowers 🙂 It was also really warm and cozy to use!

There is a lot of room for improvement from this product – it certainly shouldn’t be drying on the hands, and I think it would be better if it were like the face and foot masks that Lush do, and didn’t need to be melted. The scent could also definitely be improved upon!

Lush Old Father Time Hand And Body Soap Review

This isn’t a soap I got recently – in fact, I picked it up in the Boxing Day sale back in 2015! I finally used my piece all up, and here is my review for it 🙂

Old Father Time Hand And Body Soap:

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This soap doesn’t have a sweet smell to it. In fact, the scent reminds me almost of… dust? It has a dusty, old book, tree, woodsy, incencey sort of scent to it – if that makes any sense at all! It is a very difficult scent to describe… it sort of smells like a nice smelling hippie’s den haha! Anyway, it isn’t a sweet smell in the slightest really, so if you don’t like more earthy, smokey scents, this one isn’t going to be for you at all!

The lather of this soap is, well, a murky brown-orange-red colour. This isn’t a massive deal, but it does take a bit of getting used to. It definitely does make the soap messier than some of the others that I’ve used, because it really is so pigmented. I know this soap will definitely be too messy for some!

Another problem with the colour of the lather, and of the soap overall, is that it looks almost gorey to me. It is a deep maroon colour, and honestly, when the soap is sitting in its soap dish with browny red coloured soap water dripping down the sides of the sink… I dunno, maybe I’m really weird, but nonetheless I found the appearance of this soap quite creepy – almost like having a chunk of liver in my soap dish!

This was a Christmas Exclusive soap in 2015 – and didn’t even return for 2016! If you happen to really enjoy this soap, you could very well find that you have a difficult time trying to stock up on the stuff I’m afraid!

The scent of Old Father Time definitely fades over time. The scent of my piece of this soap was much milder toward the end of its days. The scent remaining was more of a general soap scent, with just a slight hint of its original scent still present.

Pros:

The design of this soap is SO GORGEOUS! This soap has golden cogs going through it and wow, it is just absolutely stunning. The orangey-golden cogs are absolutely full of lustre and are more creamy and soft than the rest of the soap. Extremely lovely to use!

This soap overall was surprisingly moisturising. I don’t know why, but when I first received this soap I assumed it wouldn’t be very moisturing at all, but it really was. Perhaps not quite AS moisturising as some other soaps but it was pretty damn good! Definitely not a drying soap at least.

The scent is definitely one that both all genders can enjoy. My partner loved this soap and I think it was quite a nice one too. When I asked him if there was anything he would want to add to my review of the soap, he said: “I like how it got softer the more you worked it. I like how creamy it was. It was really nice!” 🙂

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this soap was mostly a pleasure to use. It was definitely a fun experience, it is very different to any other Lush soap I have used thus far!

I am going to rate Old Father Time a 4/5* rating. Honestly, it reminding me of a chunk of liver or… something… really put me off! I would have given it less stars, but how much my partner enjoyed it sort of nudged it up somewhat!

Lush Golden Wonder Bath Bomb Review

I was lucky enough to be given a £100 Lush gift card for Christmas from my partner so of course, I spent it on the Boxing Day sale! I wasn’t super organised though and failed to picture everything and upload a “What I got for Christmas” blog post, but I am going to be making a post on my current Lush stash very soon.

At the Lush store we went to on Boxing Day, all the Golden Wonder Bath Bombs were sold out. Luckily I brought my partner along with me, because while I was grabbing the individual bath bombs, he went and grabbed me the Golden Wonder gift set which of course, includes the Golden Wonder Bath Bomb! I was so chuffed 🙂

I wish I were more organised – I’ve gotten such lovely things over Christmas and also did over my Birthday, and I would have loved to have blogged about them!

Anyway, here is my review of the Golden Wonder Bath Bomb 🙂 I hope you enjoy!

(I’m sorry in advanced for the terrible quality of the photos I have uploaded. My laptop has gone for repair so the only way I could edit photos and transfer the edited copies onto wordpress was through messenger, which really has killed the quality!)

Golden Wonder Bath Bomb

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This is a Christmas Exclusive item so, if you happen to absolutely love it, you’re going to have a tough time getting your hands on it during the rest of the year!

The scent… Okay, I get that it shares its scent with Celebrate Lotion etc, but honestly? It was just such a weak scent, and didn’t linger for me at all. If you are expecting a strong scent from this one then you are going to be very disappointed.

It is SO glittery! Anytime I held this bath bomb before using it, my finger tips would be absolutely coated in golden lustre. It was a bit of a pain!

Okay so this is a weird con but hey, maybe I’m a bit of a weird girl. The colour bothered me. Not because of the colour itself, but to me the bath water genuinely looked like a sea or ocean, and that sort of terrified me. I’m really scared of sharks, so sitting in a bath of water that makes me feel as though I’m in the middle of a tropical sea or ocean somewhere was sort of unsettling. It was especially creepy because I was the only one awake at the time and it was in the early hours of the morning (maybe around 3am…) Maybe if you have a similar sort of fear, you should steer away from Golden Wonder!

This bath bomb was very residue-y. I wish I had rinsed off in the shower after taking a bath with this bath bomb but honestly, my fear of sharks just sort of caused me to shoot out the bathroom ASAP! I was really freaked out! Anyway, the gold stars that are released by this bath bomb were sort of buttery, and also left residue around the bath tub. Basically, some additional rinsing of both the bath and yourself will be required after bathing with Golden Wonder.

The rattle or whatever the surprise is meant to be in the center…? I didn’t hear anything at all when I shook the bath bomb around.

Pros:

I think this bath bomb looks absolutely gorgeous! It is a beautiful yellow-golden package with a lovely cream coloured big bow on the top. It is also really big! It definitely looks very special for a bath bomb.

This bath bomb fizzed away quite nicely. It was a fast-medium fizzer.

Almost straight after the bath bomb began fizzing away, the only part of the bath bomb that was visible above the water was the cream coloured bow, which I thought was adorable! It looked really cute just seeing a cream bow travelling around the bath as it fizzed away.

The colours of this bath bomb are lovely. Beautiful golden yellows, creams, blues, pinks… Super pretty!

This bath bomb made the bath water genuinely look like a tropical sea/ocean somewhere. If that sounds like your kinda thing, absolutely go for it!

The scent was nice and fresh.

The golden stars released were really cute!

I found this bath to be somewhat moisturising.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I didn’t like this bath bomb all that much… The colour of the water sort of scared me, the bath bomb left behind residue, the scent was very weak… It’s a real shame, because I think that the bath bomb looked so beautiful before putting it in the bath, and I really think this is one that has a lot of potential. Perhaps I just shouldn’t have used it in the middle of night to prevent my mind from wondering too much.

Overall, I’m going to rate this bath bomb a 4/5* BECAUSE my partner found it for me in the store and it was a gift from him, and I definitely think it is overall a really nice bath bomb! I think I just used it at a rubbish time of the day to be honest, otherwise I’m sure I would have had a better experience with it. Although, the scent was definitely somewhat of a let down!

Lush The Comforter Bubble Bar Review

The Comforter Bubble Bar

thecomforter

Rating: 4/5

Cons:

This bubble bar is really soapy! There is no way I could have a bath using The Comforter and not have to rinse off in the shower afterwords.

You can get 2+ uses out of this bubble bar, but the second time I bathed with it the novelty of it has already sort of worn off (I had the leftovers from the first bath lying around the house for weeks,) so I just sort of… used up all the rest in the second bath…

I didn’t find this bubble bar to be that fun of a product compared to many of Lush’s others if I’m honest!

Pros:

This smells lovely! Like blackcurrent sherbet sweets 🙂

This bubble bar creates an insaneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee amount of bubbles!!! (The first image below is the result before turning on bath jets, the second image is the result after turning on bath jets.)

The colour that The Comforter turns the bath water is an incredibly gorgeous pale magenta colour – similar to slightly paler version of the colour of Calpol!

Everything about this bubble bar screams girly. It is perfect for a night in where you just want to celebrate being the princess that all girls know they are inside! It is pink, looks like some sort of pudding, and creates a fluffy pink sweet and fruity scented bath – what more could a girl need to relax?!

The design of this bubble bar is beautiful. It is made up of a swirl of creamy white and a swirl of beautiful magenta – both incredibly pigmented!

This is a Lush product and is vegan – in my opinion, those pros alone make this bubble bar worth a shot!

This bath was slightly moisturising, which although not incredible, it definitely wasn’t a bad thing.

Overall conclusion:

Overall, this was a vert cute bubble bar, and was one that I did really enjoy. It wasn’t as exciting as bath bath bombs are, but it was still really lovely. There honestly isn’t that much to say about this product – it is nice and girly, smells like blackcurrents and leaves your bath pink and very bubbly.

Overall, I give The Comforter Bubble Bar a rating of 4/5* (I’m feeling generous today.) It gave me a nice, uber bubbly and uber girly bath – nothing more or less than that really!

Lush Intergalactic Bath Bomb Review

img_2452-2

Intergalactic Bath Bomb

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

The glitter from this bath bomb won’t go straight down the plug hole once you have drained the bath water, so the bath needs to be rinsed after using it.

The scent isn’t very strong.

I don’t know if this is the same for all Intergalactic bath bombs, but mine was very soft – holding it would leave tons of power on on my fingers and little indents in the bath bomb. It is very delicate!

Because of the peppermint, the water sort of feels colder than it actually is. This meant me having to add a lot more hot water to my bath once I got in, until the bath was very full!

After bathing with this bath bomb, I did have to rinse myself off in the shower quickly afterwards to get any leftover residue out of my hair and off my skin.

This bath bomb didn’t do that much for my skin in terms of moisturising.

Pros:

The peppermint in this bath bomb makes your skin feel extra clean.

THIS BATH BOMB WILL MAKE YOUR BATH THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING IN THE WORLD WOW! The glitter… the colours… just… wow…

IMG_2454 (2).JPG

The scent is lovely! It is a sweet, musky peppermint, and is really refreshing. I’m sure it would be brilliant to use when you have a cold, to help with feeling congested.

My mother got me this as part of my birthday present, and wow, what an incredible gift! I would highly recommend giving this to someone as a gift.

The glitter stays on your skin a little bit after you get out the bath.

The display that this bath bomb gives… At first, the bath bomb realeased a cloud of inky blue colourant, that slowly spreads through the entire bath. The bath bomb then begins to release glitter and a beautiful rainbow of colours, all whilst spinning elegantly. Absolutely beautiful!

IMG_2466 (2).JPG

The fizzing time of this bath bomb was medium – long enough to really enjoy the show, but fast enough to not become too impatient or bored whilst watching. Ideal!

The name, the theme… Who doesn’t love Astronomy?

IMG_2475 (2).JPG

BEAUTIFUL!!!

AMAZING!!!

VEGAN, FROM LUSH, CRUELTY FREE, ETHICALLY SOURCED INGREDIENTS… HANDMADE…

My hair felt really soft after washing my hair in this bath!

Overall Conclusion:

IMG_2472 (2).JPG

Wow. Just wow. I did not expect to love this bath bomb as much as I did. It was just such an incredible experience, using this bath bomb.

I have to rate this bath bomb a 5/5*, without a doubt. The only negative thing about this bath bomb really was having to add in extra hot water to the bath, but I’m sure in the future I could just learn how much hot water this minty bath bomb requires.

Overall, I absolutely loved it!
