In Response To Emma Blackery’s “Why I Fell Out Of Love With Lush…” Video.

Hey guys,

I’m bored and just watched Emma Blackery’s video on why she has fallen out of love with Lush, and instead of commenting on her video I decided I’d make a post with my response on my blog.

So, here it is:

I still love Lush and really enjoy buying their products – but they have definitely changed a lot (over the past 3 years particularly).

It’s still an exciting store, but is just so insanely popular now – you’d have to turn up at 10am on a Wednesday or some similar time for the store to actually be remotely calm and comfortable to go shopping around in! The staff also drive me nuts (I know that isn’t their fault) and their approach to customers has always been a problem, but has definitely become a LOT more aggressive than before.

I do still like a lot of their old – school products – like Coalface for example, but don’t honestly go in to buy any of my old time favourites that they do still sell. As a customer, I feel like I’m just constantly being bombarded with new products, so the really high quality, older products take a back seat and aren’t really noticed so much, which is really sad!

I think everybody just went a bit nuts over Lush and all at the same time, and that “boom” has really changed the company and the customer’s experience of the company. I think they just need to cut back on their releases (e.g. releasing maybe 5 new lipsticks versus FORTY, under 10 releases for each season, maybe only 10 new permanent line items each year etc,) so that old products could be discontinued at a much less noticeable rate (and so that only old products that people don’t really care about would be discontinued).

I know Lush is supposed to be an innovative company but I don’t think there is anything boring about keeping around the products that people love and that work.

I am still interested in some of their products that they sell at the moment – I’d really like to find a nice lipstick from their new range for example, but beyond that I’m personally just trying to get through my stash and only purchase anything from there either on the rare occasion that they release something that does excite me, or on the rare occasion that I run out of one of my daily Lush essentials.

I think I *could* get back into the company more passionately once I work my way through my stash entirely, but with all the new products that they are constantly releasing I do feel that it would be difficult for me to do. I’m the type of person who likes to try a bit of everything to find their ultimate favourite product from each category (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc,) and then to stick to that product! That’s something that’s become almost impossible to do with Lush…

For example, I had ALMOST worked my way through all of their cleansers – and now they have 6 new solid ones?! You can’t even get samples of those things, and it’s hard to truly know how something works until you take it home and really trial it.

I think to really enjoy Lush you have to be using their products religiously every single day, because otherwise you will just become overloaded with products to use up and with new products to try.

Definitely isn’t the company for a customer who’s trying to find their perfect product through trial and error and is fairly bad at consistently using products.

So, that’s what I have to say about falling out of love with Lush!

Again, I DO still love Lush, and Lush is still my favourite store by far. I’d honestly be happy if they just reduced how many new products they release at a time, and if they cut back on their amount of products by maybe 50% or so. They just have WAY too much going on!

It’s hard for a customer to become loyal and in love with and attached to a product when the product lines keeps changing. That just sends customers a very confused message.

What do you guys think about Lush? Have any of you guys fallen out of love with the company? Feel free to leave a comment on your opinions below 🙂

Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner Review

Hey guys! So this is another beautiful product I was able to purchase in the Boxing Day sale at Lush, using my £100 gift voucher that my amazing partner got me as a Christmas gift!

I hope you all enjoy this review!

(Sorry about the terrible quality of the photo below…)

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner (100g)

img_3476

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

This moisturiser can make your hands feels reeeeeeeeeeeally nasty after you’re done applying the conditioner to everywhere you want on your body. Like, super gross! You really need to wash your hands after you are done after washing the body conditioner. This is a bit of a shame because I guess it means that you can’t moisturise your hands with it!

If you DON’T wash your hands after using it and touch your hair in any manner afterwards, I promise you, you’ll regret it! Prepare to have to wash your hair again sooner than usual… Especially if you have a fringe! Because of the transfer of product into my hair, even after very vigorously rinsing my hands in the bath after finishing with using the body conditioner, my hair looked quite greasy the morning after. I had to wash my fringe again less than a day after already having washed it!

Okay, so again with problems with the moisturisation factor of this product. After you’ve done using this product in the bath or shower, that bath/shower is going to be suuuuuuuuuuper slippery – very dangerous! Also, if you use the body conditioner on your feet while in the shower, and then stand up… I swear I felt like I was standing on ice sometimes, trying to ground myself to prevent myself from slipping over! This is quite a dangerous product.

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner is a very sweet product, and could very well not be to everyone’s liking.

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner is also very pink and sparkly, which makes it quite girly. Actually, the concept of the entire product is very girly – the name, the scent, the colour… This might not be one for the lads, although I’d not say that men shouldn’t try the product altogether! I know some men who absolutely adore Snow Fairy Shower Gel! In general though, this is more of a product directed toward females than males.

If you happen to LOVE this product, then I almost feel sorry for you. It is a Christmas Exclusive item at Lush, meaning it was only available for a couple of months during the Winter. It also means that, if you’re unlucky, it might not even return next Winter… If you happen to fall in love with this product, good luck trying to stock up on the stuff!

I found that this product ran out fairly quickly. I bought it on Boxing day and used up the last bit yesterday. Okay, so that’s 2 months and 2 days, which might seem like a long time for some people. But I didnt actually use the product THAT often – maybe around once every week or every other week. This isn’t tooooo bad, but I definitely used it up faster than other lotions I have received from Lush!

It takes quite a lot of product to truly moisturise your body using Snow Fariy Body Conditioner. I found that it would absorb into my skin almost instantly, so I’d keep re-applying the product until there was at least a tiny bit of noticeable surplus residue. I did this to ensure I was fully moisturised, and it would take quite a bit of product to do so!

Pros:

Despite all the cons listed above, I’m kinda in love with this product. The concept is just so adorable and girly, and definitely makes me feel that way too! It is an adorable, light, bubblegum pink colour with a sparkly blue-purple lustre sprinkled on the top of the product. It smells like straight up bubblegum, and is called Snow Fairy… Super girly!

The scent is gorgeous. It is different to Snow Fairy Shower Gel. The shower gel smells extremely sweet, almost like sugar itself. This body conditioner however smells a lot more subdued in terms of sweetness, although it is still very sweet. It smells quite creamy and buttery too, and even has a very slight muskiness to it. It is like comparing the scent of a sickly sweet hard boiled sweet to the icing on a doughnut. It is just creamier and less sugary smelling! I LOVE it!!! Good enough to eat!

This product was able to fully moisturise parched areas of my body that I wasn’t even aware were parched… After applying this product to certain areas of my body, I’d find it would disappear into my skin almost instantly. Once I had added enough for there to be a tiny bit of excess residue evident, those areas of my body would feel extremely nourished and supple.

I actually found that using this product after shaving prevented ingrown hairs and any shaving rash I could have expected after shaving in the past. Absolutely brilliant!

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner is mild enough to be fine to use on sensitive areas of skin on the body. Now my entire body can be super moisturised!

Everything is just easier to do when in the bath or shower. Using this product rather than a lotion meant that it was extremely easy to moisturise anywhere on my body without getting lotion on anything, and being able to rinse off any excess meant that I was able to feel clean and smooth rather than sticky and tacky. If moisturising is a bit of a chore for you, try a body conditioner from Lush. You will still need to take the time to moisturise, but it does make the process a little bit easier and more comfortable.

This product made bath time way more fun. I love taking baths, because it is the time where I get to use a whole bunch of my Lush products. I mostly used this product during my baths rather than showers, which also negated the danger of slipping over after applying the product to my feet! Definitely the perfect pamper companion!

I got this product for 50% off, and if it is available next Winter too, you’ll also be able to get it for 50% off if you are lucky in the Boxing Day sales!!! Absolute BARGAIN!!! The product literally cost £3.98, and even then, I was lucky enough to get it with a Gift card (so it actually cost myself nothing!)

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I loved this body conditioner. I know this was a super long review, and that’s because it is a very interesting product! It does take a little practice to perfect the application process of this product, but once you have the hang of it, this product is an absolute beauty.

I’m going to rate this product a 5/5* rating. As long as you’re CAREFUL in the shower and bath, and take precautions, I think this product is absolutely amazing. The only real downside to me is the fact that it is dangerous. It really isn’t difficult for me to imagine someone slipping in the shower after applying this to their feet, and cracking their head open… Just please be careful with these body conditioners guys, seriously!

1. If you choose to apply this product to your feel while in the shower, the remainder of your shower should be taken SITTING DOWN. DO NOT risk slipping over, seriously, it isn’t worth it.
2. Try to limit yourself to using this product only when taking a bath! This limits any risk sooooo much!
3. Make sure the shower or bath tub isn’t slippery once you’ve finished your shower/bath. You wouldn’t want to cause any future accidents…
4. I absolutely would not let children use this product by themselves if under the age of 16 in the shower. This might sound ridiculous, but at this age they are still their parent’s responsibility. I’d not risk a serious injury from occurring! Tell them to use it in the bath instead!

Thank you for reading! – Storm

Lush Boo Bath Melt Review

Okay guys, so I only just finished using up this bath melt today… I know, pretty bad considering I received this as a gift from my partner on Halloween last year…

Anyways, I used it up so here is my review of the product! I hope you enjoy!

Side note: I used this bath melt more as a bubble bar… I’m not entirely sure why I had it in my head to use this product as a bubble bar, but I have a feeling the description on the Lush UK website said to use it as a bubble bar or something? I’ve searched everywhere for the UK description of this product and just cannot find it anywhere!

Photos below from left to right, top to bottom: First time I used Boo and the bubbles created before turning on jets, first time I used Boo and the bubbles after turning on the jets, second time I used Boo and the bubbles before turning on jets, second time using boo and the bubbles after turning on jets, Boo bath melt before first use. I was going to include an image of the bath melt before second use too, but it looked kinda gnarly if I’m going to be honest with you, so I thought it would be best not to do that…

Boo Bath Melt:

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This was a Halloween exclusive product in 2016, so it isn’t available to purchase at the moment. This also means that IF it is released again, there’s not necessarily a good chance that you’ll be able to get your hands on it again once Halloween is over. It is a pretty exclusive product so if you end up falling in love with it, good luck trying to stock up!

The colour this bath melt leaves the water is pretty basic, and honestly, isn’t that appealing either. It turns the bath water a sort of milky pale green colour… I really don’t know what to think of that, but I think I’m not 100% keen!

The scent is very strong, and I’m not sure if everyone would like it to be honest. It smells very floral. Extremely so. I’m guessing this is mainly due to it containing Geranium oil, but it isn’t just that the scent is extremely floral. The scent is also sort of.. spicy almost, but in a bitter sort of way. I’m guessing that part of the scent is due to the inclusion of ginger oil. The scent definitely catches in your throat slightly. Anyways, if you really aren’t a fan of your florals, you’ve been warned!!!

I actually didn’t find this bath melt to be that moisturising. It was moisturising, don’t get me wrong. It just wasn’t anywhere near as moisturising as I had anticipated it to be I suppose. It is the first bath melt I have used from Lush, so I expected it to be more moisturing than any other Lush bath product I have used in the past, considering that is a bath melt’s main focus. Butterbear Bath Bomb was definitely more moisturising though, and I’m pretty sure Rose Jam Bubbleroon and Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb were too, and probably some other products! If you want to get this product purely for its moisturising factor, I’d not really recommend it for those purposes alone!

This bath melt does produce bubbles, however, those bubbles to disappear throughout one’s time in the bath faster than bubbles produces from other Lush bubble bar products.

Pros:

This product is super cute! Looooooook at how cute he is I mean, c’mon…

This bath melt was moisturising, even if only subtly! 100% more moisturising than normal bath water and than some other Lush bath products.

Some people might like the milky colour of the bath.

This bath melt creates BUBBLES!!! Like, it REALLY creates bubbles!!! Lovely, foamy, fluffy bubbles :3 They filled my entire bath and were just brilliant!

I got 2 uses out of this little guy. TWO USES!

I found the scent to be really nice actually. Very fresh, crisp and clean smelling. I liked it! The sort of scent you’d like your home to smell like.

I received this as part of a gift from my partner, and it made such a cute gift and surprise for halloween! This would make a great halloween gift for the ones you love 😀

The product itself is super creamy, and melts in your hands. This is due to its main ingredient, cocoa butter. Lovely!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this was a nice bath product. I definitely didn’t dislike it, in fact, I think I rather liked it! I feel a tad confused about it, because so many others who have used up and reviewed this product have said how they dislike it…

Anyways, I found it to be very fresh, bubbly, simple, somewhat moisturising and the product itself looked super cute before use! I’m going to rate this product a 4/5* rating. It was a really good product – not absolutely amazing, but it was really nice.

I hope you enjoyed my review!

Lush Rose Jam Bubbleroon Review

Hey guys!

I received this Lush product as part of a gift from my partner for my birthday last October, and decided to finally use it for Valentines day before it went bad! I hope you enjoy my review 🙂

Rose Jam Bubbleroon:

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

The scent of this bubbleroon is NOT exactly the same as the scent of the Rose Jam shower gel. When in the bath, the scent of this bubbleroon has quite an apparent tangy citrus note to it, which is far more subdued in the shower gel. The ingredients do differ quite a bit between the two products. For example, the shower gel contains vanilla pod infusion as its second top ingredient, giving the shower gel a very sweet aroma throughout use. The bubbleroon however does not even contain any vanilla whatsoever. The shower gel also contains Gogi berry juice, whereas the bubbleroon does not. The difference isn’t extremely major, but it is noticeable when the product is in the bath. Just don’t expect the scent to be EXACTLY the same as Rose Jam shower gel, and instead expect a version of Rose Jam that has a little less sweetness and a little more of a kick to it.

Not only is the scent of this product different to Rose Jam shower gel, I think it is also less nice in my opinion!

I needed to use the entire bubbleroon in one go to get the amount of bubbles I like when I take a bubble bath. Honestly, I forgot to put the bubbleroon under the tap until my bath was already almost full, so I don’t think it had as much of a chance to bubble up as my bubble bars from Lush usually do! None the less, I was surprised I had to use the entire product to get a nice bubbly bath.

After using a bubble bar from Lush, and many times after using a bath bomb too, I find I have to rinse off in the shower afterwards in order to feel completely clean. This bubbleroon was no different, and that additional step can be a little tedious when you’ve already been in the bath for 1-2 hours!

Pros:

This bubbleroon looks so adorable! It is the sweetest bubble bar I’ve ever used! It is a beautiful macaroon style with a gorgeous glittery rose design on the top of it! As cute as a button 🙂

This bubbleroon is really moisturising. All of that cocoa butter frosting in the center, along with all the oils they add to the bubbleroon, produce a lovely, moisturising bath. Highly recommend!

The scent, although not as nice as the Rose Jam shower gel, was still alright in the bath. Nothing incredibly amazing, but it was alright.

Out of the bath, this bubbleroon smells amazing!

The entire experience with this bubbleroon is really feminine – a gorgeous rose macaroon style bubble bar that produces a fluffy bubbly girly scented pink bath! I used mine on Valentines day and it suited the mood of the day absolutely brilliantly. It really made me feel more feminine than usual and is definitely a romantic bubbleroon too!

The bath water produced from this bubbleroon will be a rosey pinky red colour, which for some reason reminded me of the colour of pomegranate juice! It is definitely more of a pinky red than a reddish pink, if that makes any sense at all. Either way, I thought the colour was absolutely gorgeous!

The bubbles this bubbleroon produce make the bath extra relaxing. The bubbles themselves are fluffy and fill the entire bath tub (at least if you have bath jets and use them like I did.)

The whole concept and scent and absolutely everything about this bubbleroon made me feel super pampered and lovely!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I really enjoyed this bubbleroon. It is an absolutely amazing product, and the only real improvements I could suggest for it would be for it to be made bigger and for its scent to be made a little closer to the shower gel’s.

I’m going to rate this bubbleroon… Hmm, this is actually difficult. It is either a 4 or 5/5* rating. I love how moisturising it is, and the whole pamperesque experience of using this bubbleroon. It is just the scent that makes me think perhaps the product is more of a 4* than a 5*. I’m going to give it a 5/5* rating, because although the scent in the bath wasn’t great, the positive aspects of this bubbleroon far outweigh that factor.

I hope you enjoyed my review! I HIGHLY recommend trying this bubbleroon or gifting one to a loved one. It is lovely!

Lush Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb Review

Hello everyone! I actually used up this bath bomb a couple of weeks ago, so this is a review that I’ve been meaning to write for a while now! I have been, am and will be extremely busy with my coursework and just general life stuff, but I just really needed to get this Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb review out now! I hope you enjoy it 🙂

This was a bath bomb that my beautiful, wonderful mummy bought me for my birthday last October, so I decided I’d use it up ASAP before it crumbled apart!

Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb:

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

If you like a lot of colour in your bath, steer away from Tisty Tosty! Tisty Tosty is a white bath bomb, so the colour it leaves behind in your bath tub (if any) is extremely subtle. For some reason, I found my bath tub was left with a very subtle green hue to it, although this might have just been due to my lighting or something. It was very subtle either way though!

If you don’t like things floating around in your bath then again, this little guy might not be the one for you. 5 or so yellow rose buds will be released into your bath tub, and will just float around gently. You will need to take them out of the bath and throw them away before you take the plug out of the bath, to prevent them clogging up your drain or something! For me, this definitely wasn’t a big deal, but some people might find it to be an annoying additional step to taking a bath.

This was a pretty quick fizzer. I enjoyed that aspect of this bath bomb, but anyone who prefers a big show might feel quite let down by this aspect of Tisty Tosty.

The scent is quite strong when the bath bomb is in solid form but once it has fizzed away in the bath, the scent is extremely, extremely faint. The scent is also different in the water, and smells more like a subtle, sweet, fruity scent than a powdery scent.

After taking a bath using Tisty Tosty, I felt the need to rinse off in the shower afterwards. I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t feel fully “clean” just rinsing in the bath water that this bath bomb left behind.

Pros:

This is an adorable bath bomb! The only heart shaped bath bomb Lush do that is currently available, it is definitely a special little guy 🙂 Definitely worth trying in my opinion.

I found the rosebuds floating around to be very relaxing, personally. They just calmly floated around the bath tub to the rhythm of the chilled music I had playing whilst taking my bath.

This was an all round incredibly relaxing bath bomb to be honest. I could have stayed in that bath for hours! I think I DID stay in that bath for almost 2 hours… If you want a super chilled out, relaxing bath, this will be the perfect accompaniment to your bath. Absolutely lovely!

I received this as a gift from my lovely mother, and it made a fantastic gift! This is definitely worth purchasing to give to someone you care about – it definitely puts the message across, and in such a lovely way. Tisty Tosty would make an absolutely perfect gift!

I really enjoyed the scent. The scent of the bath bomb (before putting it in the bath tub) is a very powdery, sweet, floral, slightly fruity scent. It also has quite a clean and fresh scent. Honestly, the scent reminded me of the scent you’d expect from a dusting powder, talcum powder or from those powdery lollipops… You know the ones I mean! I guess the scent was also quite similar to the scent of turkish delight, but more sweet and less rosey. If you like powdery sorts of scents, give this bath bomb a try!

This bath bomb left the bath water somewhat moisturising. Not extremely so, but just a nice amount.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I think this was a lovely bath bomb, and any cons are really quite minor to me. I think this bath bomb is really underrated due to it leaving the bath with pretty much no colour or bath art whatsoever. I found it to be extremely relaxing though – the most relaxing bath I’ve had thus far in fact!

I’m going to be giving this bath bomb a 5/5* rating. Again, this may surprise some people but honestly, sometimes simplicity is best! I get very stressed, so how relaxing this bath bomb is suits me brilliantly.
