Lush Angels On Bare Skin Fresh Cleanser Review.

Hello! 🙂

Welcome again to another Lush review! I’m very sorry that I am still not uploading any images whatsoever to my Lush review posts. I know that many people are visual and enjoy looking at images. I must get into the habit of snapping a photo of my products before I begin using them really! I have a plan in mind to nip into a Lush store sometime soon, and to take photos of any products I have reviewed on my blog that are not exclusive. Once I do that I will add images to my review posts ASAP.

Until then! Here is my review of the incredibly popular, a cult classic, ‘Angels On Bare Skin Fresh Cleanser’. Let us begin!

Angels On Bare Skin Fresh Cleanser (100g)

Rating: 4/5

Cons:

The hype for this product… well… I just don’t really see how it is justified. I know this is one that so many of you guys adore, but I don’t understand why it is SO popular! If you buy this product based on its hype, chances are that you’ll be slightly disappointed too.

The little almond pieces in this cleanser just get stuck in my hair. They aren’t very scrubby at all, get in the way and just ugh… They’re really annoying! You have to use so much of this cleanser to get any scrubbing action whatsoever and I’m not entirely sure how or why, but when I start massaging the almond pieces into my skin, they somehow… dissolve?! I don’t know, the scrubby pieces in this cleanser really drive me insane.

The lavender pieces in this cleanser, although lovely, do just fall straight off your face and into the sink. This is sort of annoying. But they do smell really nice!

Okay, this could just be me being immature or just some sort of issue I have with bodily fluids, but this cleanser on my face reminds me a little bit of baby vomit. It is kind of a creamy translucent white liquid or “milk” with lots of opaque white bits scattered throughout. If you have issues with getting easily put off of things like I do, this might not be the cleanser for you!

The cleanser in the pot isn’t all that pretty. It is a murky off-white grey sort of colour, and looks a bit like clay. I’m not trying to put you guys off, I just write my reviews as honest and as neutrally as I can! This isn’t a great looking product. It looks very plain – well, as plain as a Lush product can look, which still is nowhere near as plain as your average cleanser…

The smell is a floral scent, like a very strong herby lavender, without any of the sweetness. If you are looking for a scrumptious smelling cleanser, this isn’t the one. In my opinion, it does smell nice, but does not smell sweet whatsoever, foody, fruity or citrussy which from my experience, are the most popular types of fragrances from Lush. The smell does grow on you though!

The scrubby bits do nothing whatsoever. If I want a good scrub of my face, I have to use exfoliating gloves prior to using this product.

You have to use a LOT of this product for it to really feel like it is working. It would take me ages before I’d work out the right amount I needed for a good cleanse, and this was a struggle for me right up until the very last bit of product. This is a more difficult one to determine how much you need to use.

This has literal lavender buds in it, so if you get hayfever I feel like this one could definitely irritate it.

Pros:

The scent, in my opinion, is really nice. It is very fresh and floral, and is definitely a scent I don’t mind my face smelling like! It is super lavendery, which reminds me of my mother because it’s one of her favourite scents. She’d always get me and my siblings to rub our fingers on lavender when we’d walk by some.

This cleanser does leave my face looking super peachy. What I mean by that, is that it looks very soft, plump and colourful after using this cleanser. I genuinely love how my face looks after using this!

Angels on Bare Skin is very natural, and you can really feel and see that while using it. Using a natural cleanser definitely feels so much nicer than using something like Clean & Clear on your face – trust me! I used to always feel like my face wasn’t clean enough, I’d scrub it so hard just trying to make it as clean as I thought it was supposed to be, until my face would be all red! I’m much more relaxed about how deeply cleaned my face is, because I know that Lush cleansers make my face clean enough and always leave my face feeling better than it’s ever felt with chemical-packed cleansers. This cleanser is extremely unlikely to cause your face or body any harm!

I understand why this cleanser is called ‘Angels on Bare Skin’. It is a very light cleanser – both in colour and in how rough it is on your skin. I think this is one that would be absolutely fantastic on sensitive skin for sure. My skin is combination and sensitive, and I found it to possibly be a little bit too sensitive for my liking. It really isn’t scrubby at all, unless you purposely really try to scrub your skin with it.

Again, to me this cleanser is quite nostalgic to me because it reminds me of my mother – she even uses this cleanser! That alone is enough to make me quite like it.

This cleanser works. It cleans your face very well, gets rid of oil, and leaves your face looking, feeling and smelling fresh.

This cleanser is made by Lush, is cruelty free, all natural, handmade, vegan… It is definitely worth a try, and I’d certainly recommend at least trying a sample of this cleanser.

AOBS actually lasted me a lot longer than I expected it to. Although I had to use a lot of the product to really feel like it was working, the overall pot of product still lasted me a good while. I couldn’t say how long exactly, but it felt like how long someone would want a product to last.

The name of the cleanser is absolutely adorable!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this is a really lovely cleanser. I think it isn’t scrubby enough for me, and so the almond pieces seem almost pointless to me. The smell is lovely though, as well as the overall concept of the cleanser. I also really like how my skin looks after using it. It just sort of.. I don’t know, it feels like it is missing some oomph.

Overall, I rate this cleanser a 4/5* rating. It isn’t the one for me so to say, but if I ever feel like I just need a really, really light cleanser – that works and also makes my face look lovely, then I’ll definitely be using this one again.

Lush Herbalism Fresh Cleanser Review

Hey again!

Here’s my review for Lush’s ‘Herbalism Fresh Cleanser’!

I hope you enjoy!

Herbalism Fresh Cleanser (100g):

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This cleanser is green. Some people might like that, but for some, it’s not really the colour of a facial product that you want to be applying to your face. It kinda looks like some sort of plant matter… or it maybe even looks slightly mouldy because of the green colour…

The smell is very strong. It has a very herbal vinegary smell to it. To me, it isn’t a bad smell, and reminds me of the smell of a health food store, which I quite like actually. But for some people, especially initially, the smell of this product could definitely be a bit overwhelming.

The texture of water and this cleanser mixed together is slightly unusual to me. It is quite difficult to get an even texture of the mixture, and to really mix the green cleanser properly with water. Once you have, you will be left with a slightly gritty, green, watery mixture to apply to your face. The mixture in my opinion is very uneven.

When applying this cleanser to the face and rubbing it in, it really does have a very thin, watery texture, with very slightly gritty seedy pieces mixed in. The coating of cleanser on the skin feels so thin, that it can feel as though you aren’t cleansing your face properly. The slightly gritty seed-like pieces are also not all that exfoliating, and I find they don’t really do much at all. This is a cleanser that definitely does not feel like it will be very effective while applying it.

Once this cleanser has been washed off, it leaves a slight residue all over the skin, making your skin have a slight green tinge to it. I thought I was imagining the change in skin tone at first, because it is a very slight difference, so I tried using a cotton pad with some micellar cleansing water to my face to see if any residue would come off onto the pad. The pad definitely had green on it, and I always rinse my face very thoroughly after cleansing!

This cleanser lasts forever. I’m not certain when I bought my pot, but it was made on 08/01/16 with an expiry date of 08/04/16, but I only managed to completely use my pot up this week at some point. This makes the product a little tedious and stressful to use – tedious because it can be fun to change up your skincare routine, so when a cleanser takes 6 months to get used up… well, yeah, it can become a little boring! The stressful part is because you become worried that you won’t use it quicker than it will begin to develop mould or something… For the record though, it’s appearance, smell and effects didn’t change whatsoever for the duration that I used it, I do believe that the use by dates on these products are more like guidelines than anything else.

This product can be a little embarrassing to own – although maybe that’s just me. It looks a little bit like marijuana, smells a little like marijuana, and is called “Herbalism.” I always feel like anyone who sees my cleanser might be a little suspicious, especially when I take it abroad and have to go through security etc. I haven’t had any problems with it, so maybe I’m just paranoid.. haha!

This cleanser leaves some residue in your hair line which you will need to pick out, which can be quite irritating.

If someone walks into the bathroom while you have this cleanser on your face, that could also be quite embarrassing – it really is bright green and has little seeds in it, quite an unusual looking facial product indeed!

I didn’t really see a difference in my acne whilst using this cleanser whatsoever, and if there was a difference, it was really quite slight.

Pros:

This cleanser is very “green”, as in the ingredients are all very clean and natural. This is always a good thing in my book, as I love all things environmentally friendly and natural and healthy and everything like that.

This cleanser is completely non – comedogenic. It does contain a couple of oils, but both of those oils will not contribute to the clogging of your pores, so you don’t have to worry about this cleanser making any acne any worst at the very least, which is great!

The colour is weird, yes, but I kinda, sorta like it. I mean, it’s unique. Unique is fun, unique is interesting. I say you should buy this cleanser at least once in your life, just to experience using a cleanser as peculiar looking as this on your face.

As I said before about the smell of this cleanser – I personally actually do like it. It smells like a health food store – to me it smells almost identical. I really like that smell!

This product does leave your face feeling quite clean, fresh, and even slightly plump and moisturised.

The green tinge that this cleanser leaves on your skin could be seen as a bonus. Some people like to use green coloured products on their face to combat redness, so if you are one of those people, definitely give this cleanser a shot.

This is a Lush product, clearly, meaning it is animal friendly as in not tested on animals and completely cruelty free, and is also a vegan product. Being a vegan and someone who appreciates life of all varieties, just this fact alone makes this cleanser a pretty great product in my book.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I do quite like this cleanser. I do not adore it, but I do definitely like it. I’d say it’s definitely worth a try, but don’t expect miracles. It is a very interesting product and one that I am very glad I gave a go.

Overall, I rate this cleanser a 4/5* – it definitely wasn’t as effective of a cleanser to me as Aqua Marina was, but it is still a really nice product to try – perhaps a great gift for any hipster/indie/hippie/alternative types of friends that you might have…

Lush Aqua Marina Fresh Cleanser Review.

Aqua Marina Fresh Cleanser (100g version)

Overall Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

  • This product leaves a sort of powdery film on the face, which generally requires rinsing, patting the skin dry, and then re-rinsing any areas that have residue left on them.
  • The smell. It takes a while to become accustomed to, and at first it may feel like wiping something like sushi onto your face… it does seem to be a bit of a gross product to use at first to be honest!
  • The consistency of the product straight from the pot is almost slimy, which again, is kind of gross!
  • I found that sometimes the product would sting my face slightly when using it. Id guess that this was due to the fine sea salt mixed into there irritating my skin slightly.
  • This product expires way, way before you will use it up. I just continued to use the product and it was fine, but some people may not want to do that which would mean wasting the majority of the product!
  • The product was every so slightly drying due to the powdery residue left behind on the skin.
  • The smell of the product does cling to the skin, so if anyone comes close to your face, they will notice it.
  • The pieces of seaweed will 100% get stuck in your hairline, eye area, eyebrows etc, and you will have to pick any noticeable pieces out or get someone else to, even after rinsing very thoroughly.

Pros:

  • THIS PRODUCT IS 100% NON-COMEDOGENIC! This means that it will 100% NOT clog your pores!
  • I actually quite like the soft, fine, powdery film that this product leaves on my face. It leaves my face feeling incredibly soft.
  • This product cleanses the skin very well.
  • The smell does grow on you. I actually found the smell to be very refreshing by the end of the pot of product.
  • The product lasts for ages! I had this product from around October through to March, so a good 5 months (although the product technically expired after 1-2 months…)
  • When creating the mixture in your hand, the product feels so fluffy and soft, like a beautiful mousse.
  • This product will make your skin look gorgeous! After every usage, my skin looked noticeably brighter and lighter, and any redness was drastically reduced.

Overall conclusion:

I really was not keen on this product at first, mostly because of the smell and the texture of the product on my hands straight from the pot. But, the product really grew on me with continuous usage. You do have to give this product a chance for you to begin to truly appreciate it. It just made my skin feel and look so beautiful, and without clogging my pores. I actually used it in a way slightly different to how they recommend. My method of using products is that more is better than less. I prefer to use slightly too much of a product and that it definitely works, than to use too little and for it to not reach it’s full effectiveness. What I would thoroughly wet my face, and then pinch out an amount from the pot and place it into the palm of my left hand. I would then start working the product, without adding any additional water other than what was on my hands from wetting my face, until it formed a very even consistency – like a pink mousse. I’d then apply this all over my wet face, and it would spread around perfectly.

Overall, I would highly recommend this product. Yes, it does take a while to get used to, and can be a pain sometimes, but it is definitely worth it for it’s effects on the skin!
