Lush Tropical Jungle Body Lotion Review

Tropical Jungle Body Lotion:

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

This lotion was a Kitchen Exclusive back in April of last year. I think they may have released the lotion in the Lush Kitchen earlier this year too, but I’m unsure. Either way, if this is a product you are interested in or a product that you have somehow got your hands on and happen to fall in love with, you’re going to find it very difficult to stock up on! It isn’t available in stores all year, and isn’t even a seasonal product!

Some people will hate the scent of this lotion. Think pine trees, think musky salt, think bitter under-ripe bananas. It is a scent that does catch in the throat quite a bit if you inhale it a little too much. If the smell of the great outdoors – the woodsy, foresty, jungly smell isn’t your sort of thing, I’d steer WELL away from this lotion! It has quite a heady, humid sort note to it which really enhances and brings out outdoorsy scents within this lotion.

This lotion is RUNNY. It is EXTREMELY thin. I have spilled bits of this lotion on multiple occasions – nothing tragic, but nonetheless it is quite irritating!

This lotion being so thin means that often you will find you need to apply a lot more of the stuff to actually feel moisturised for a decent amount of time.

This lotion can feel slightly tacky on the skin for some time after application. This doesn’t bother me much at all, but I can see how it could bother a lot of people. It is definitely a lotion where I have to wash my hands after application!

The scent being sort of musky and salty in nature does remind me a tiny bit of perspiration. It doesn’t smell bad, but it does have this humid saltiness to it.

This lotion can go down pretty fast. It has lasted me a good amount of time – a little under a year and 3 months in fact, but that is because it isn’t a lotion that I use daily. Each application would use up quite a bit of product.

The first ingredient on the ingredients list for this product is water. That’s never a good sign when it comes to lotions! It is somewhat of a filler ingredient, which is a shame because this lotion was pretty expensive.

Pros:

Okay, so I actually sort of fell in love with this lotion. I’m really upset that I used it up to be honest. If this comes out in the kitchen and you happen to see it, and it isn’t sold out, buy it. You might not love it at first, but trust me, it will grow on you! This lotion is truly experience enhancing. It is just the perfect lotion to use whenever you’re going to be outdoors and in the sunshine!

The scent of this lotion is something very special. It really does smell like a mixture between a being in a pine tree forest and a being in a tropical jungle. And I say being in, because the scents truly feel like you are there, in that forest, in that tropical jungle. I know it sounds strange, but the scent of this jungle is very adventurous and outdoorsy, and makes me feel more adventurous and outdoorsy when I use it! It smells absolutely gorgeous, I love it! There’s a definite sweetness to it that smells to me like bananas. I don’t know, I can see a lot of people hating the scent of this lotion and I really wasn’t sure of it at first – which is why it is so important to actually use up an entire product before making a judgement on it!

I hate that this lotion is thin, but I love how the lotion feels once applied. It makes me feel fresh and truly moisturised, and over time, once the lotion has sunk in, my skin is left feeling velvetty smooth and plump. This body lotion is definitely one that works – it makes your skin feel moisturised and healthy!

The scent is strong. This is a scent that 100% will cling to your skin all day, as well as on any clothes that your lotioned-up skin comes into contact with.

My skin, without fail, looks 100% better after having applied this lotion to it. This lotion somehow makes my skin appear slightly darker, much more healthy, more even in tone and texture and provides a gorgeous sheen to my skin too. This lotion was an absolute must for days when I wanted to venture outside with my legs on show!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I loved this lotion, and I’m pretty darn sad that I have used it up! I’m really hoping that there is a mainline lotion that has a similar affect – a scent that makes you feel all adventurous! I loved loved loved this lotion! Some times I’m still slightly unsure about what I think of the scent, but most of the time all I have for this lotion is pure love. I’m so glad that I randomly decided to add this lotion to my order when I went online to buy some shampoo bars last year. It completely surpassed my expectations! I do wish that water wasn’t the main ingredient for this lotion, but it isn’t a big problem for me. The effects of the lotion are more important, right?

Overall, I’m going to rate this a 5/5* rating, without a doubt! I’m not even a person that uses lotion religiously but wow, this lotion… I truly do hope Lush has some more amazing ones in its mainline!

Lush Layer Cake Soap Review

I’ve had this soap since January last year, and only just used it up! Here is my review of it. I hope you enjoy! 🙂

Layer Cake Soap (100g):

Rating: 3/5*

Cons:

This soap never really lathered up very well. Like, never. The lather was always extremely mild – only just enough to wash the hands with. If you like a strong lather then steer clear from Layer Cake!

The scent of this soap is a little plain. It smells generally soapy, with a fruity scent mixed in to it. My piece consisted of a blueberry and a raspberry portion of soap, and it smelled… Well, generally fruity I guess!

This wasn’t the most moisturising of soaps – in fact, I found it to be somewhat drying to be honest. Not majorly, but definitely somewhat.

The colour of the soap seems to just disappear with the more you use it. With the last week or so of using the soap, the colour of it was an extremely mild, translucent blue-purple colour. It reminded me of when you suck on an ice lolly only to find that afterwards, the ice lolly is just an icy colour because you just consumed all the flavour and colourings from it!

The blueberry portion of the soap didn’t smell brilliant to me. It was okay, but it was quite a dry, powdery smell (if that makes any sense…) It reminded me of the smell of these blueberry flavoured vitamins I used to take as a kid. Not great!

Pros:

I think that in general, the colour of the soap is nice – especially originally. My piece was half raspberry pink and half a dark blue-purple colour. Dark magenta is my favourite colour, so anything pinky-purple wins my vote!

Although the lack of lather had my worrying, this soap did clean my hands very well.

Although the scent wasn’t necessarily anything special, I did really enjoy it. I love fruity scents, and the raspberry half of the soap smelt especially lovely. It smelled like delicious, sweet raspberry scented candy.

I think the idea of this soap is lovely. You never know what piece you’ll get if you get this soap in a gift set (like I did) or if you order online. I love how many differrent flavours the soap consists of, and the amount of combinations you could end up with! The original block of soap truly looks like one of those rocket ice lollies!

I received this as part of a gift, and it did make a really nice gift!

This soap suited the season really well – it smelled like summer berries, so it would be a great one to use in Spring and Summer (although honestly, berry scents go quite well in Winter and Autumn too!)

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I think this soap was nice, but not anything incredible. It didn’t lather well, was a little drying on my hands and became a washed out colour by the end of its days. I also wasn’t super keen on the scent of the blueberry scented portion of my soap. I did like the raspberry scent though, and the soap worked really well and looked beautiful. It was also exciting to almost have 2 soaps in one!

I’m going to rate this soap a 3/5* rating (a rating that my partner also suggested!) Before writing the review, I suspected the soap would get a 4/5* rating. I suppose writing out all the pros and cons changed my mind a little! It was a really nice soap, it just wasn’t amazing!

Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner Review

Hey guys! So this is another beautiful product I was able to purchase in the Boxing Day sale at Lush, using my £100 gift voucher that my amazing partner got me as a Christmas gift!

I hope you all enjoy this review!

(Sorry about the terrible quality of the photo below…)

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner (100g)

img_3476

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

This moisturiser can make your hands feels reeeeeeeeeeeally nasty after you’re done applying the conditioner to everywhere you want on your body. Like, super gross! You really need to wash your hands after you are done after washing the body conditioner. This is a bit of a shame because I guess it means that you can’t moisturise your hands with it!

If you DON’T wash your hands after using it and touch your hair in any manner afterwards, I promise you, you’ll regret it! Prepare to have to wash your hair again sooner than usual… Especially if you have a fringe! Because of the transfer of product into my hair, even after very vigorously rinsing my hands in the bath after finishing with using the body conditioner, my hair looked quite greasy the morning after. I had to wash my fringe again less than a day after already having washed it!

Okay, so again with problems with the moisturisation factor of this product. After you’ve done using this product in the bath or shower, that bath/shower is going to be suuuuuuuuuuper slippery – very dangerous! Also, if you use the body conditioner on your feet while in the shower, and then stand up… I swear I felt like I was standing on ice sometimes, trying to ground myself to prevent myself from slipping over! This is quite a dangerous product.

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner is a very sweet product, and could very well not be to everyone’s liking.

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner is also very pink and sparkly, which makes it quite girly. Actually, the concept of the entire product is very girly – the name, the scent, the colour… This might not be one for the lads, although I’d not say that men shouldn’t try the product altogether! I know some men who absolutely adore Snow Fairy Shower Gel! In general though, this is more of a product directed toward females than males.

If you happen to LOVE this product, then I almost feel sorry for you. It is a Christmas Exclusive item at Lush, meaning it was only available for a couple of months during the Winter. It also means that, if you’re unlucky, it might not even return next Winter… If you happen to fall in love with this product, good luck trying to stock up on the stuff!

I found that this product ran out fairly quickly. I bought it on Boxing day and used up the last bit yesterday. Okay, so that’s 2 months and 2 days, which might seem like a long time for some people. But I didnt actually use the product THAT often – maybe around once every week or every other week. This isn’t tooooo bad, but I definitely used it up faster than other lotions I have received from Lush!

It takes quite a lot of product to truly moisturise your body using Snow Fariy Body Conditioner. I found that it would absorb into my skin almost instantly, so I’d keep re-applying the product until there was at least a tiny bit of noticeable surplus residue. I did this to ensure I was fully moisturised, and it would take quite a bit of product to do so!

Pros:

Despite all the cons listed above, I’m kinda in love with this product. The concept is just so adorable and girly, and definitely makes me feel that way too! It is an adorable, light, bubblegum pink colour with a sparkly blue-purple lustre sprinkled on the top of the product. It smells like straight up bubblegum, and is called Snow Fairy… Super girly!

The scent is gorgeous. It is different to Snow Fairy Shower Gel. The shower gel smells extremely sweet, almost like sugar itself. This body conditioner however smells a lot more subdued in terms of sweetness, although it is still very sweet. It smells quite creamy and buttery too, and even has a very slight muskiness to it. It is like comparing the scent of a sickly sweet hard boiled sweet to the icing on a doughnut. It is just creamier and less sugary smelling! I LOVE it!!! Good enough to eat!

This product was able to fully moisturise parched areas of my body that I wasn’t even aware were parched… After applying this product to certain areas of my body, I’d find it would disappear into my skin almost instantly. Once I had added enough for there to be a tiny bit of excess residue evident, those areas of my body would feel extremely nourished and supple.

I actually found that using this product after shaving prevented ingrown hairs and any shaving rash I could have expected after shaving in the past. Absolutely brilliant!

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner is mild enough to be fine to use on sensitive areas of skin on the body. Now my entire body can be super moisturised!

Everything is just easier to do when in the bath or shower. Using this product rather than a lotion meant that it was extremely easy to moisturise anywhere on my body without getting lotion on anything, and being able to rinse off any excess meant that I was able to feel clean and smooth rather than sticky and tacky. If moisturising is a bit of a chore for you, try a body conditioner from Lush. You will still need to take the time to moisturise, but it does make the process a little bit easier and more comfortable.

This product made bath time way more fun. I love taking baths, because it is the time where I get to use a whole bunch of my Lush products. I mostly used this product during my baths rather than showers, which also negated the danger of slipping over after applying the product to my feet! Definitely the perfect pamper companion!

I got this product for 50% off, and if it is available next Winter too, you’ll also be able to get it for 50% off if you are lucky in the Boxing Day sales!!! Absolute BARGAIN!!! The product literally cost £3.98, and even then, I was lucky enough to get it with a Gift card (so it actually cost myself nothing!)

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I loved this body conditioner. I know this was a super long review, and that’s because it is a very interesting product! It does take a little practice to perfect the application process of this product, but once you have the hang of it, this product is an absolute beauty.

I’m going to rate this product a 5/5* rating. As long as you’re CAREFUL in the shower and bath, and take precautions, I think this product is absolutely amazing. The only real downside to me is the fact that it is dangerous. It really isn’t difficult for me to imagine someone slipping in the shower after applying this to their feet, and cracking their head open… Just please be careful with these body conditioners guys, seriously!

1. If you choose to apply this product to your feel while in the shower, the remainder of your shower should be taken SITTING DOWN. DO NOT risk slipping over, seriously, it isn’t worth it.
2. Try to limit yourself to using this product only when taking a bath! This limits any risk sooooo much!
3. Make sure the shower or bath tub isn’t slippery once you’ve finished your shower/bath. You wouldn’t want to cause any future accidents…
4. I absolutely would not let children use this product by themselves if under the age of 16 in the shower. This might sound ridiculous, but at this age they are still their parent’s responsibility. I’d not risk a serious injury from occurring! Tell them to use it in the bath instead!

Thank you for reading! – Storm

Lush Old Father Time Hand And Body Soap Review

This isn’t a soap I got recently – in fact, I picked it up in the Boxing Day sale back in 2015! I finally used my piece all up, and here is my review for it 🙂

Old Father Time Hand And Body Soap:

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This soap doesn’t have a sweet smell to it. In fact, the scent reminds me almost of… dust? It has a dusty, old book, tree, woodsy, incencey sort of scent to it – if that makes any sense at all! It is a very difficult scent to describe… it sort of smells like a nice smelling hippie’s den haha! Anyway, it isn’t a sweet smell in the slightest really, so if you don’t like more earthy, smokey scents, this one isn’t going to be for you at all!

The lather of this soap is, well, a murky brown-orange-red colour. This isn’t a massive deal, but it does take a bit of getting used to. It definitely does make the soap messier than some of the others that I’ve used, because it really is so pigmented. I know this soap will definitely be too messy for some!

Another problem with the colour of the lather, and of the soap overall, is that it looks almost gorey to me. It is a deep maroon colour, and honestly, when the soap is sitting in its soap dish with browny red coloured soap water dripping down the sides of the sink… I dunno, maybe I’m really weird, but nonetheless I found the appearance of this soap quite creepy – almost like having a chunk of liver in my soap dish!

This was a Christmas Exclusive soap in 2015 – and didn’t even return for 2016! If you happen to really enjoy this soap, you could very well find that you have a difficult time trying to stock up on the stuff I’m afraid!

The scent of Old Father Time definitely fades over time. The scent of my piece of this soap was much milder toward the end of its days. The scent remaining was more of a general soap scent, with just a slight hint of its original scent still present.

Pros:

The design of this soap is SO GORGEOUS! This soap has golden cogs going through it and wow, it is just absolutely stunning. The orangey-golden cogs are absolutely full of lustre and are more creamy and soft than the rest of the soap. Extremely lovely to use!

This soap overall was surprisingly moisturising. I don’t know why, but when I first received this soap I assumed it wouldn’t be very moisturing at all, but it really was. Perhaps not quite AS moisturising as some other soaps but it was pretty damn good! Definitely not a drying soap at least.

The scent is definitely one that both all genders can enjoy. My partner loved this soap and I think it was quite a nice one too. When I asked him if there was anything he would want to add to my review of the soap, he said: “I like how it got softer the more you worked it. I like how creamy it was. It was really nice!” 🙂

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this soap was mostly a pleasure to use. It was definitely a fun experience, it is very different to any other Lush soap I have used thus far!

I am going to rate Old Father Time a 4/5* rating. Honestly, it reminding me of a chunk of liver or… something… really put me off! I would have given it less stars, but how much my partner enjoyed it sort of nudged it up somewhat!

Lush Baked Alaska Soap Review

I bought this soap in the boxing day sale in 2015, and have only just used it up! Here is my review for this soap 🙂

Baked Alaska Soap:

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This soap is really cleansing, and may even begin to dry out your hands after continuous use.

I didn’t find this soap super exciting to be honest. It is a simple, green coloured, lemon scented soap.

This is a Christmas exclusive item so if you find that you like it, you’re going to have a lot of trouble obtaining it at other times of the year!

Knowing Lush, there isn’t even any guarantee whatsoever that this soap will return next Christmas season so again, if you like it then you’re going to have a tough time finding a good supply!

This soap isn’t really well suited for Winter – in fact, I found it nicest to use in the Summer.

Pros:

This soap smells really good. It smells incredibly cirtrusy! It smells so, so lemony and citrusy and lovely! A FANTASTIC one for the Summer – trust me!

This soap is super cleansing and refreshing, and the scent really suits the Summer time (as I just said..) If you can manage to save this one for the Summer then you’re going to enjoy this soap that much more!

My partner loved this soap. He would smell it constantly, so it’s a winner for both men and women.

This soap is very colourful and is more fun to look at than the traditional white bathroom soap. Again, it looks really Summery!

Baked Alaska lathers up incredibly well – likely the best lathering soap I have used thus far!

It has a creamy layer on the top, which makes for a creamier lather if you make sure to rub this side of the soap on your hands.

This soap lasts forever! It has lasted me a year – a YEAR! And that is with many, many uses.

I found that Lush soaps work best as hand soaps and to be kept by the sink. This one makes for a lovely hand soap 🙂

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, I think this would be a really nice soap to use exclusively for the Summer, when your hands get all sticky and you just want to freshen up with a lovely Summery scent. Otherwise, I think this soap would be far too drying and that the scent wouldn’t really go too well with the time of the year.

My partner has said that he thinks the smell was really lovely and limey, but he found the soap to be quite drying and that the lather was difficult to product and wasn’t very moisturising.

Overall, I’m going to give this soap a 4/5* rating. This is because I think it would be an amazing soap to use in the Summer, but not so great at other times of the year!

Lush Sunrise Review

Hello! Today is my review of Lush’s soap product called “Sunrise”. It was a mother’s day exclusive product earlier this year. Let’s begin!

Sunrise

Rating: 5/5*

Cons:

If you want to get this soap, I must warn you that it becomes very… slippery… toward the end of it’s days. The last chunk of my soap (I suppose an inner piece compromising of a lot of murumuru butter…) literally slipped out of my partners hand and down the drain while he was using it. If you think slippery soaps sound like a pain, this one isn’t for you!

The scent sort of fades with time. I have had this soap since Mother’s day (approximately 7 months ago now!) and only just finished using it up, but its fragrance has certainly been extremely mild for the past couple of weeks – in fact, I could hardly smell any sort of fragrance at all coming from this soap over the past couple of weeks.

This soap can become really difficult to lather up toward the end. When it gets to the point where it is quite small, it is mostly murumuru butter, and that by itself really isn’t a strong latherer.

Even when this soap was larger, I distinctively remember it slipping out of my hands and landing on the floor or into the sink several times. I don’t know what it is about the soap, it is just super slippery in general!

When using this soap toward the beginning, the lather is quite syrupy and has a very strong yellow-orange colour to it. It does wash off completely when you rinse your hands, but such a strong coloured lather does put me off a little bit. I’m not sure why – I think it is because it makes me feel like my hands are possibly less clean, or maybe it is because I am scared that some of the pigment will remain and stain my hands slightly after rinsing off the lather.

The soap changes from a vibrant fruity translucent orange colour, to a more soapy and opaque pale orange colour the more you use it. It definitely changes in appearance toward the end of it’s days in comparison to when it is initially bought. This is fine, but just be warned that it won’t stay looking like a sparkly semi-orb of wonder forever!

This soap is quite soft, so when it does drop on the floor at any point (and it will…) it will sustain some battle wounds, aka dents. I never had any of my soap actually break off, and the denting didn’t personally bother me too much, but it might bother some.

Pros:

This soap does smell really nice when you first get it – like orange flavoured lolly pops. It really is a lovely smell!

The colour is such a vibrant orange, it really is a beautiful looking soap. If you like the colour or the fruit orange, this soap is definitely one for you! 😉

This soap is made to look absolutely incredible with its gorgeous lustre running through it. The lustre really shows once you have used the soap and it is wet. It is a golden lustre and I really cannot describe how beautiful it looks in this semi-spherical shaped soap, but it really does look amazingly beautiful and magical!

The soap starts off washing your hands like a fairly standard soap from Lush – it lathers up okay and the lather is rather syruppy in texture. As you use the soap more and more, the lather gradually becomes more smooth and creamy, due to the murumuru butter in the centre. The mix of the initial cleansing lather of the soap and the creamy lather further on in the soap really makes this product a great one in my opinion.

The ingredients are all natural, the product is handmade, is vegan and from the incredible company Lush! Just that makes this product a win in my books. I know I say that in almost every review but it comes from the heart every single time. I truly believe it is worth it – to the customer, the company and all the organisations that the company helps – for people to buy and try out Lush’s beautiful products!

This soap was a Mother’s day release, and I bought one for my own Mummy. I think it made a wonderful gift as it lasts a very long time and is an all natural product – it feels nice knowing that my gift to my mother will not harm her in any way shape or form. I think this soap would make an amazing gift to almost anyone in fact – my partner even thoroughly enjoyed using, so it’s definitely one for the men too!

This is a very unique soap and I think it is one that is definitely worth at least a try.

This soap’s colour, name and well, just everything about it to be honest, really puts a smile on my face. It is a super happy soap!

The semi-spherical shape of this soap makes it fit really nicely in the palm of your hands, and makes it look different from all of Lush’s other soaps.

I really enjoy the concept of this soap. I love that it is called sunrise, looks like a sunrise and smells how you’d imagine a sunrise would smell on a warm summer’s day in some southern European country like Spain. It is a soap with a very warming feel to it (not literally, just emotionally.) Definitely worth a try!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, this is a really nice soap. It reminds me of my youth actually – my favourite colour for approximately the first 13 years of my life was orange. This soap being such a happy one also reminds me of being a child, most children seem quite happy right?

I enjoy the smell of this one – not too sweet, just a subtly sweet orange scent. It looks absolutely incredible, the most beautiful Lush soap I have reviewed yet, due to that gorgeous orangey golden lustre in there!

I’m not so keen on the soap at all as it gets nearer to the end of it’s days, but I really enjoyed it for around 2/3 of the time I used it.

Overall, I rate this gorgeous soap a 5/5* rating. It has it’s faults, but the concept and beauty of this soap, as well as all it’s other pros, have really won me over this time!

Join me for another Lush review in just a moment, where I will be reviewing the infamous Angels on Bare Skin!
