One Thing I HATE About Hot Days Is…

… I always feel panicked to make the most of them! I don’t know if anyone else gets this – most people I know find 32 degree Celsius days in England to be horrid, and just want to stay indoors and wish the hot weather and sunshine away. They get headaches, nausea, sweaty, dizziness and just generally don’t fare too well in the heat.

Me?

I live for these days. I’m constantly waiting for the temperature to hit 22 degrees or more where I live – which only occurs for a total of less than 7 days a year here I’m sure! Winter is an absolute nightmare for me. I HATE the cold with a passion. You hear so many people say in Winter that they can’t wait for the weather to be warm again, but those same people are usually the ones screaming “IT’S TOO HOT!!!” on days like these. Not me. To me, this is bliss. I’m not saying the hotter it is, the better – but I do really enjoy it being very warm.

So I find myself today, on the hottest day that I will feel all year – and probably the hottest day I will feel until another year has passed, and I don’t know what to do with myself. I’ve made no plans, I’m just sitting here! I don’t even know what it is that I want to do in this heat. Honestly, I think it is just it being warm that makes me happy – not what I’m doing when it is warm. I just hate the feeling that it is only going to be a pleasant temperature for me for a limited amount of time, before it’s back being too cold for me again. I wish I lived somewhere warmer than here – like in Queensland Australia or something! Knowing the weather is pretty much always going to be nice would be absolute freedom for me!

I find hot temperature to be freeing – when it is cold, I find myself trapped indoors because of how uncomfortable it is to be outdoors. I wasn’t always so hateful toward cold weather. When I was a teenager, I’d go out in the snow wearing a skirt and converse, as though it wasn’t a big deal at all. One Winter whilst living in Bulgaria, I caught hypothermia. My extremities became extremely painful and well, I think since then I’ve become more sensitive to the cold. Sometimes I feel like I feel the cold twice as strong, and feel warm temperature only half as strongly as most people I know feel it. I’m sure this isn’t fully true, but hypothermia can cause people to become more sensitive to the cold afterwards, so I don’t think it is entirely untrue of a statement either.

Anyways! For now, I think I’ll just enjoy the ability to have my back doors (that lead to my bedroom) wide open, whilst sitting in bed on my laptop and enjoying the heat 🙂 I’ll keep looking forward to a future where I live somewhere warmer, where I never feel rushed to enjoy the sunshine and heat before it disappears!

Lush Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster Mouthwash Tabs Review

Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster Mouthwash Tabs (45g)

Rating: 3/5*

Cons:

I wasn’t keen on the taste of these. At all! The taste did not grow on me, and I really didn’t enjoy it. They tasted like citrus mixed with sweetener and aniseed. I don’t like aniseed after an incident I had with Ouzo once. Ugh. Disgusting. Gross. I HATED THE TASTE OF THESE. PLEASE GOD NO!!! Eughhh so gross!

I found it kinda difficult to get these to fully dissolve into my mouth to become a mouthwash. I’d always be left with some gritty liquid to swish around, and would often find little gritty pieces of mouthwash tab left behind in/on my teeth after I had finished swishing.

The tabs create a mouthwash that is a bright, almost luminous yellow colour. You’re not supposed to rinse your mouth with water after using these, meaning that if any of that colour clings to your teeth, your teeth will appear more yellow after using these tabs! I didn’t particularly notice this, but it is something that made me feel slightly uncomfortable!

Pros:

My mouth would feel more fresh and clean after using one of these mouthwash tabs, so they did their job!

The taste was definitely a refreshing type of taste.

The sweet lemony taste of the mouthwash tabs was really nice!

These mouthwash tabs are a pale yellow colour, which I think looks cute! They are also in cute diamond shapes 🙂

These mouthwash tabs are extremely travel friendly!

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, these tabs were… Interesting… They did work, but they were sort of uncomfortable to use, because they just didn’t dissolve or break down that well in my mouth. I really didn’t like how gritty the mouthwash solution was!

I also HATED the aniseed taste. I think it was vile, and I think Lush are taking a big risk by flavouring a mouthwash product with aniseed considering how love/hate the flavour is! It was just nasty, and the last thing I’d want my mouth to taste like after having used mouthwash!

The mouthwash did work though, and it was a nice extra step to ensure that my mouth was super clean. They are really handy aswell because of them being in a solid format, and they look adorable! The lemony flavour in them is nice too, but overall I think the taste of them is quite gross to be honest!

Overall, I’m going to rate these guys 3/5* rating. I can’t give them lower than that because they did their job, which is the most important thing really! They just tasted sooo gross

Lush Reindeer Rock Soap Review

This is for the new design of the Reindeer Rock soap from the exclusive Christmas range in 2016. I only just used up this soap a little while ago – here is my review of the product!

Lush Reindeer Rock Soap

Rating: 4/5*

Cons:

This soap doesn’t smell like anything incredible. It sort of smells slightly sweet and tangy, very floral, fresh and citrusy. Mostly floral and citrusy. It doesn’t have a bad scent, it just isn’t anything absolutely amazing in my opinion!

You can’t buy a specific amount of this soap. It comes in one set size and shape, so if you wanted to try a sample or if you wanted to buy a bigger piece of the soap, you’d be out of luck! Steer clear of this soap if you enjoy picking the amount of soap you want to purchase!

This soap was a Christmas exclusive product from 2016. This means you can’t buy it in store anymore – and it may not even return next Christmas! If you do somehow get your hands on some of this soap, and happen to really love it, you’re going to have a difficult time stocking up on the stuff!

Back to the scent – it wasn’t very Christmasy at all. The scent is more of a Spring/Summer scent to me!

This soap has quite a Christmasy name and also has quite a Christmasy appearance. This is a con, because it means that it may feel strange to use this soap during other times of the year. The scent and the appearance of this soap just do not go well together in my opinion!

I found this soap to be drying on my hands. Not extremely so, but I did notice a tiny little bit of dry skin on a couple of different days when I had been using Reindeer Rock as my hand soap.

Pros:

This soap looks absolutely gorgeous! It is in the shape of a stone, and is a gorgeous vibrant blue colour. It also has a caveman-style reindeer engraved into the top of it, which is coloured with golden lustre. The main blue soap itself also has golden lustre running all the way through it, which looks absolutely stunning.

Reindeer Rock soap lathers up wonderfully, and stays in tact pretty well. It only started breaking up once there was hardly any soap left at all, and it lathered up well fairly consistently.

I think the smell is quite pleasant. Again, not amazing, but it definitely is nice and entirely unoffensive.

The colour of the soap stays until the soap is completely gone. This, I have found, is quite rare with a Lush soap! The colour does fade, but it is definitely still a bright blue colour until its last use.

Overall Conclusion:

Overall, me and my partner really enjoyed using this soap. It is probably the best lathering soap I have used from Lush to this day, stays together better than any Lush soap I have used to this day, and also retains its colour better than any Lush soap I have used to this day.

It wasn’t perfect though – but it definitely was a pleasure to use!

Overall, I’m going to rate this soap a 4/5* rating. If the scent was more down my alley, it would have been a 5* rating!

90 Days of Summer left!

I wrote a blog post sort-of-recently saying how I had a full 137 days of Summer. I know, I’m very lucky!

A little bit of time has passed, and I now have 90 full days of Summer left. Here are some of the delightful ways I have spent my Summer so far…:

  1. Pampering myself! One of the first things I did with my time off was give myself a manicure. When you have spent so much of your time dedicated to a course or something as time consuming as one, you rarely have time to just treat yourself, make you feel good about yourself. Toward the end of my course, it got to the point where I would feel far too guilty to do my nails – I’d just feel like I should be studying instead!
  2. Using my Lush products. Another thing I just didn’t have enough time to do often whilst on my course was to use my Lush products. I have been using them much more during my Summer, and on one day I even went through a very extensive bath routine – consisting of every Lush product type that I own! It was

    A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

Again, pampering yourself is something that is easily to neglect when you’re so busy! It is important to treat yourself though – sometimes some relaxation and a boost in confidence is just what you need to be able to be more productive in your work anyway!

  3. Post Lush reviews onto my blog! Throughout April, I hardly posted at all because I was just far too busy studying. I still used Lush products every now and then, so not posting on my blog meant the amount of reviews I needed to write really started to pile up! I do currently have a couple of reviews to write, but knowing I’m allowed to provide myself the time to write those reviews is so lovely!
  4. Catch up on doing the laundry! I live with my partner, and all the laundry is my responsibility. You wouldn’t think that two people’s washing would pile up quickly, but it really does. With being so busy, I really neglected to keep up with the washing, so I spent a good couple of days loading, unloading, hanging up and putting away mine and my partner’s laundry! It’s so nice to look into our wardrobe and drawers to find tons of outfit options!
  5. Present shopping! I love treating my partner, and it was his Birthday on May 20th! Normally I’d just find something quick to get him, because around then I’d usually have exams. Having this time off meant I could really go the extra mile and spend a good amount of time to really pick out some thoughtful gifts and to plan a really nice day for him! It’s sad how a course or work can really take away from your personal life, and it was really nice to be able to invest the time into my partner’s Birthday that he deserved.
  6. Writing in my blog in general! I haven’t posted that much this month, but having the freedom to whenever I’d like to is really lovely!
  7. Taking LOTS of baths! Nothing makes me feel more clean and refreshed than taking a good old bath. Whilst on my course, I could only really find the time to take showers! It’s nice to be able to pick out a bath bomb and enjoy a good soak whenever I’d like to feel super refreshed!
  8. Shopping! I haven’t been shopping for clothes or anything like that – more like useful household items. Me and my partner moved into our first flat just last October, which was after the start of my course. Neither of us really found the time to invest into putting the finishing touches to our home. During my Summer so far, I’ve bought loads of little bits and bobs for our home – some plants, lighting for our garden, planters, kitchen items, paint, decorating tools etc.
  9. Spending an entire day, undisturbed, to celebrate my partner’s Birthday! We didn’t end up actually going out for his Birthday in the end as he just wanted to stay in, but it was nice to not feel the pressure to study at all!
  10. A massive Summer clean-out! We brought a LOT of junk to our flat, and haven’t really had the time to go through it at all. We still have a lot of junk left, but I did manage to fill up 4 – yes, FOUR bin liners FULL of clothes that I no longer wear or want or that no longer fit, and am currently in the process of selling them! We also still hadn’t fully unpacked, and had a lot of containers lying around. I found places to put them all and gave all our floors a really thorough clean.

I now have a list for what is allowed on the floors of each of our rooms to keep the floor clear! I also bought a new vacuum cleaner and tons of cleaning products, so that we can easily keep our flat nice and fresh. I even got rid of all the leaves we had piled up in our garden from last Autumn!

This clean out took quite a while, especially our bedroom as that room had sort of become our dumping ground for any junk that we couldn’t find a place for. It’s nice that it is done now though! So much more space!

We also now have a little white board in our kitchen, where we keep a tally of how many items we bring in and take out of the home. The aim is to bring in as little as possible, and to take out as much as possible! It’s to help motivate us to let go of some of our old things, so that we can live a more simple and clutter-free life.

  11. Giving myself facials. I know I’ve already mentioned Lush products a lot, but this is specifically for Lush’s facial products. When I neglect my fact, it quickly becomes pretty nasty. I was still washing and moisurising it everyday while on my course, but that was pretty much all I had time to do! I’ve been able to use face masks, facial scrubs, my serum bar, spot treatments, lip scrubs, toners – the WORKS! It really helps to boost my confidence when I feel like my skin is looking its best!
  12. Finances. Boring, I know. Me and my partner have a system where we pay for anything that we both use, by ratio of our incomes. So any rent, bills, groceries and household items we will pay using this ratio.

We’re really not very organised with this! We usually just sort of pay eachother what we owe around once a month or so by looking through our bank statements and working it all out.

Well, toward the end of my course, we just sort of neglected to do this at all. We probably left it for around 3 months! Working out how much you owe someone used THREE MONTHS worth of bank statements really takes a while – but it was something we needed to do!

I feel so much better now that we’ve sorted this out. It is nice to know how much money I ACTUALLY have!

That’s about it! It probably all sounds really, really boring – but trust me, you’d be surprised with the things that you really want to have enough time to be able to do, after spending so much time not really being able to do anything besides following a course schedule!

And yes, most of these things are small, and really didn’t need to take up a full 47 days. I’ve been relaxing and sleeping a lot to regain some energy! The clear-out and deep cleaning really did take a long time though.

I’ve just been on focusing on achieving one thing that I choose to do at a time. The thing I’m focusing on right now is booking flights! I intend to visit my family up in Scotland soon, would like to go travel to Spain for a couple of weeks and possibly have a couple more flights to book on top of that!

With my 90 days left, I hope to spend some time on how I look. I’d like to revamp my wardrobe so that I have a more up-to-date look, take the leap and get my first tattoo, maybe get a few piercings and to experiment around with makeup and with my hair!

I’d also like to become healthier. I’m working on my weight loss, and wouldn’t mind beginning to jog routinely too – and to maintain a daily skin care routine!

I’d love to get a job! An actual reliable, paying job.

I’d also love to volunteer and to gain some new skills – I’ve been thinking about volunteering at our local cat shelter or something! I’d also really like to start learning Spanish, programming and I’d like to invest more time in reading educational books, online courses and educational videos!

I’d like to pick up some hobbies – maybe buy a camera and start taking photos and videos. Maybe even start an Instagram account! I’d also really like to begin learning an instrument 🙂

Oh, and I’d like to adopt a kitty.

And to go on lots of adventures with Richard.

Yep, I’m a dreamer – I know the chances of me achieving all of that in 90 days is low, considering what I’ve achieved in 47 days! It is possible though, and I’d be damned if I don’t try!

Tactical Voting – Kick The Tories Out!

I’ve only ever voted once in the general election in my life – purely because I’ve only been able to vote for one in my life. I’m 23 years old, and tomorrow will be my second opportunity to vote in the general election.

When I last voted, I took a quick quiz online – it said my needs and wants were most aligned with the main 5 parties in this order:

Green>Liberal Democrats>Labour>Conservatives>UKIP.

Yep, I’m an idealist, shoot me.

After reading into the parties, I decided that this order was true for the most part, and so I voted for the Green Party. Of course, I knew they wouldn’t win, but at the time it was most important to me to vote for the party that I actually wanted to win, and for my vote to be counted toward that party than for a different one. Who knows? Maybe if all the millions of people who decide to not vote every year, actually decided to vote, maybe the Green Party would actually be a much more preferred party than it is today. Perhaps many who choose not to vote do so because they feel that Green Party won’t win, and are disheartened by that fact and so don’t bother voting.

Anyways, so another general election has swung around. This time, I was a little stuck for who to vote for. In the end, I’ve decided that the majority of the time, who wins the seat in each constituency is usually a close call between 2 parties. This year, I have decided to vote tactically. The two main parties in my constituency are the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. So, I’m going to vote for the party out of the two who I would rather win the general election – which of course for me is the Liberal Democrats.

Voting tactically for me means that my vote will more likely count towards the Conservatives not winning the general election which, at the end of the day, I’d prefer to happen over the Liberal Democrats not winning the election. Voting for the Liberal Democrats in my constituency is the most effective way that I can cause the Conservatives to lose a seat, and thus less likely to win the election.

If you are young like me, and aren’t completely sure about who to vote for, I suggest you look a little into the policies of each party or heck, even take a quiz like I did, that orders your preferences for each party. That will be a good starting point, and then I’d like to suggest a tactical vote. If you search for the general election results for your constituency from 2015, you will see which 2 parties held the highest amount of votes. I’d suggest voting for the party out of the two which you would like to win over the other!

If you just don’t want the Conservatives to win, for whatever reason, then you can use a site like https://www.tactical2017.com/ to easily find out who you should vote for to make the most impact towards voting the Conservatives out!

Most important of all though, do try to make an effort to leave your home and make it to the polling station, wherever you are registered on the electoral roll, in time to cast the vote of your choosing. Even if you decide to simply spoil the ballot! The only way you, and all of us, can really make a difference though is to cast a vote for a party.

Happy voting!

Daily Weight Diary 4!

Weight Diary Day 4:

Starting weight: 142.8 lbs

Current weight today in morning: 128.8 lbs

Goal weights: 129.8 lbs, 128.8 lbs, 127.8 lbs, 126.8 lbs, 125.8 lbs, 124.8 lbs, 123.8 lbs,
122.8 lbs, 122.4 lbs.

Why I weigh this much: I’m not entirely sure why I weigh this much today! I still haven’t been sticking to my calories, and haven’t been sticking to my 3 meals per day. I also ate quite a bit of junk food yesterday – delicious sweet lemon cake, salted cashews and salted sunflower seeds, all of which are terrible for weight loss. I must stop the snacking!
